Is it fair to say that getting the usual passport/drivers license photo's from a photobooth would suffice? Then take a picture with your phone and upload as a JPEG?

The process is pretty simple just use this website to upload your photo and get the result in minutes to the specification you need for Canada PR photos. And its free. Good luck.

Hello guys,
I got my digital photo but the size is 413*531 instead of 420*540 as per the requirement. Is this gonna be an issue?
Hi, which Pixel size photo you submitted? I am also facing same 35 X 45 MM is showing 413 X 531 Pixels? How to get correct size?

Hi All, any one please suggest what pixel size of photograph they submitted. Its very confusing. 35 X 45 MM is showing 413 X 531 Pixels. How did you converted it to 420 X 540 size.

Dear All

Due to COVID-19 outbreak lockdown, none of the photo studios are open or in working. However, i was thinking to click a photo using my smart phone and using an app PASSPORT SIZE PHOTO MAKER or similar apps online, i can resize as per requirements.
Due date to submit PR application is May 4, 2020.
But my question is, i am unable to remove shadow from the picture, which is only visible in the neck region. Any suggestions? Will it be acceptable? Do i need to provide Letter of explanation for not providing a photo by a professional photographer?

Thanks in Advance

Hello GurleenKaur2020,

How'd you go with the photo?

I have received ITA and was looking at the specifications for the digital photo to upload in the CIC website.

The specification to upload digital photo is as follows:

Frame size

  • The final frame size of the photo must be at least 35mm x 45mm.
  • The photographs must show a full front view of the head and tops of shoulders, with the face in the middle of the photograph.
  • The size of the head, from chin to crown, must be between 31mm and 36mm.
  • Digital dimensions are often expressed in pixels or DPI (dots per inch). The physical dimensions in pixels must be at least 420 x 540.
Quality/resolution

If an existing photo is being scanned, the minimum resolution must be 600 pixels per inch.

File format

  • The file may be submitted in JPEG or JPEG2000 format.
  • The final size of the image should ideally be 240 kB (kilobytes), but not less than 60 kB.
  • The image must be in colour (24 bits per pixel) in RGB colour space, which is the common output for most digital cameras.
My questions are:

1) Should the photo be printed physically according to the dimensions and does it then need to be scanned OR the photo should be taken in digital format in the exact dimensions by a professional photographer?

2) Is there a need of physically printing the photo since we are uploading it electronically?

3) Since it is a digital photo, do we need to provide backpage of the photo where we are asked to print our Date of birth and the photographer's address?

Anyone who had already filed for their PR can you please help.

Thanks.
I know it been too late to reply to this question, but many people like me, always refer to forums for the updates and this question still holds good to date.
1. It is better to take the Photograph from the professional studios and you can request them to give you the digital copy of it. You can also request a receipt with the date and stamp of the photo studio if they provide one.
2. Scanning backside of the digital photo- you can upload the backside of the Digital photo with the required details in the additional document section. Below is the requirement from IRCC (this was updated in Citizenship Requirements, however, you can also provide it for PR)
  • You must also upload the photographer's information (name, address and date the photo was taken) to the "Client Information" item, under Optional Documents. We accept the photographer's receipt or a text file.

Hello i was having the same issue with the digital photograph and i tried that idphoto4you.com website to create the digital photograph. After downloading the picture from the website i was seeing the dimensions as 413 X 531 but that is not length, those are pixels. so i came across this article https://www.javelin-tech.com/blog/2017/01/image-dimension-size/... which i helped me understand and when i checked the dimensions of that same image it came out to be 35 X 45 cm. So i am planning to use that photo for my express entry application.
I hope it will help to resolve your query, have you submitted the profile by now ? what alternate did you do just in case curious to know.

hello,

photo requirements are confusing.
i got a digital copy of the photo but with 5cm x 7 cm from a studio and 2 hard copies with studio information in the back.
Now i read in the forum than photo must be at least 35x45. Does this mean that my 5x7 photo is acceptable ?
i measured the face dimensions of my photo from chin to top it's about 35mm.
has anyone submitted the 5x7 format and got accepted ?

how can i proceed ?
thank's a lot !
