Digital photo front and back

I found a PDF document on digital photo specifications for PR. It says we need to upload both front and back of the photo with the back side having name, DOB and address of the photo studio.
Is this true that we need both and back?

For the digital photo follow the instructions on your document checklist, the back is NOT required.

I have received ITA and applying for PR. My only fear is while merging front and back of the photo, resolution should not be altered.
I am using an online tool to merge my images..is this okay? How are you doing it?

This is the confusion. My agent says to upload both sides. But i am worried that this should not alter my image resolution

If your agent is suggesting something like this you should be careful with him. For express entry follow the document checklist instructions.
