Hi,

Not sure what to answer of the form IMM5490 as I was one year with year, 2 months in canada and now back with here in her country and will get married in a month. So I travel to her country but not only for the marriage.

thanks!

That sounds like it would be YES to that answer as you will be marrying in her country and not Canada

even if I kind of live here?

I am not sure if they are asking like you're saying since it's in her country or if it's that I had to travel days before if I would live in canada?

Depends on how long you will stay in her country when you are getting married. Also depends on how you answer sponsor questionairre. If sponsor is living or cohaibiting with applicant at the time you fill out application? Then no, you didn't travel for the wedding. Just answer truthfully. It makes little difference either way.

What I did with every question that I had a doubt about was write a small explanation on a seperate sheet of paper and attahced it to the back of the form. Write your name, the form number and the specific question name and number at the top.

Agreed. Write an explanation. I'd been living for 3 years previously with my spouse in his country before marriage, so even though to submit the app I moved back to Canada, for this question I said no I didn't travel, obviously since I'd been here for 3 years and working.

If you are only there for one month before hand, and moving back a few weeks after the wedding, I'd say you did travel. One month is not really living there. But whatever you decide to answer just write an explanation explaining the situation so that the VO understands and knows what your line of thinking was.

Hello guys,

So am I wrong picking yes to this question. My sponsor used to live in London, UK from where he applied for PR under FSW. Once he got the PR, he went to CANADA and stayed there for two and half months. Then after he got his PR card and he came back to his home country where I was living (i mean we from the same country). He stayed here for 7 months with his family and then we got married. After marriage, he stayed with me for about 2 months and he recently returned to CANADA. Now, in this case, I was suggested by some forum members to select yes to the question 16a. did your sponsor have to travel to your country for marriage?. Now I get confused...so guide me plz. Thank you.

there is no "Right or wrong" answer. if it's clearly explained in your application, then it's not going to be a problem. every person is going to interpret the question based on their own story/experience. technically, he did have to travel to another country to get married. it doesn't matter if he's lived there before. obviously he got there somehow, and you didn't get married while you were both in different countries. stop worrying. not EVERY situation is the same as yours, nor will it reflect negatively on your application. if you told the truth, you are fine.

Thanks rhcohen,
U r absolutely right..so wat do u think do I need to give an explanation to this question or just click yes n go forward?
Thank you once again.
