Thanks for these info. I will go thru them.

The main applicant is my wife.

when I login to e-cas, that's all it mentioned. Is this normal? I haven't received any updates since Nov. 2008.

"We started processing your application on July 2008"

No other updates.

Toledo, when you say that the status reads, "We started processing your application on July 2008," is that under the "Permanent Residence Application Status" heading or under the "Sponsorship Application Status" heading? If it's under the "Permanent Residence Application Status" heading, then it's not unusual that that is all that there is. On ecas, mines reads the following under the "Permanent Residence Application Status" heading:

In Process . . .

We started processing XXXXXXXXXX's application on January 8, 2009.

XXXXXXXXXX's interview is March 26, 2009.

and that is all. They haven't updated it at all.

Toledo, what visa office are you going through?

Keep me posted on what's happening with your case, okay.

Thanks for prompt reply.

mine's going thru Buffalo, NY. I've read some threads here in this forum, saying that Buffalo is one of the visa offices that process applications very quickly, but in my case its not the case.

I haven't kown about the CAIPS. I am planning to request it. Do you think, there will be some useful information in there?

The CAIPS notes should give you an idea of what they are doing with your application, i.e. are they conducting background checks. The CAIPS notes will show the progress of your application and what they are currently doing.

I know how you must feel! London is also supposed to be one of the visa offices that process applications quickly too, but that definately is not the case with me. It just frustrates me that this application has taken this long. It's really stressful for both me and my husband.

I keep hoping and praying that this application will be finished before 2009.

That's why I got in contact with my MP, some people have told me that by getting in contact with your MP, the MP can help with your case . . . but I don't know what to think anymore! All I can do is continue to pray and believe that this will all be over soon.

They say that no news is good news . . . but hearing no news on the progress of the application at all really makes a person stressed out and crazy!!!

I contacted my MP's office by email last July. I had to write again after a few weeks because I hadn't heard anything. After a week or so they told me that my case probably wouldn't be decided until next year. I wasn't too happy with that answer so I wrote to the embassy to ask if I could get a temporary visa for my wife...I explained that we had been together for years outside the country and other reasons why our case should be straightforward. I received a form email from the embassy 'Dear Sir or Madam' Please look at our website...it seemed they hadn't even bothered to read the email. But they had read it...a couple of weeks later they asked for my wife's passport and new medicals. She now has her visa.

So I guess it helped, I might not have written to the embassy if I hadn't learned from the MP that it was going to take so much longer....

We sent our app to CIC: Mid Oct 2008
Processing in Bogota: End of Nov, 2008
Visa rec'd: Early Nov, 2009

Thank you Suin. I hope you get your problem sorted out quickly. I found reasonable people behind the embassy walls, maybe you will too. Good luck!

Congratulations james9655!!!

I got in contact with my MP on October 23rd. They got in contact with London on October 26th. On October 30th London sent in a respose telling my MP that they are still awaiting the results of the background checks and that the second medicals have been received. My MP told me to get in contact with them again if my husband or I do not hear anything by the end of January 2010 and my MP also told me not to get in contact with London anymore. My application was sent to CIC-Mississauga in October 2008, just like yours james9655. We're still waiting . . . :(

my MP sent letter to the visa office a week ago and there's still no answer, is that normal to ignore MP's letters?
