I spoke to my MP's office regarding my husband's case and they told me that they will get in contact with London. They also told me that from this point onward that my husband or I MUST NOT get in contact with London any more.

Please, for those of you who have gotten your MP's office involved in your case, how much longer after the MP's involvement did it take to finalize your case?

I'm so desperate here . . . I just want my case to be finalized before the end of this year.

I am a silent reader of this forum, I want to honestly advise you that it is not worth it to get your MP involved.
I have a family member that is in the same situation like yours, I have been reading your posts for some time.
As soon as the MP was involved with that family I know, they stopped receiving communication from london office,
it's been close to 19months now, they stopped receiving any update at all. Before, even though there was a delay,
london office was communicating with them. It went from bad to worse. My 2cent worth, keep dealing with london
office directly, otherwise, you will be surprised that instead of your case to move fast, it will be extremely delayed.

My MP told me that everytime I get in contact with London, they pull my case out of the queue to answer my questions/check the status and then they put it to the back of the queue. My MP said that each time you get in contact with London you are actually delaying your case. I don't know what to do anymore!!!

I am so frustrated becasue I don't know what more I can do.

Patience is the 'answer'. Come to think of it, how is it possible for them to pull your file up and place it at he bottom of the queue?
That is overstatement. CIC advise not call them because they could have been doing something else on the queue instead of spending
some time to answer random enquiries/specific queries. Be patient otherwise if you listen to what your MP said you will eventually be forced
to be patient for a longer period. This family i know are regretting the fact that they have involved their MP as they have now been forced to wait endlessly. But it is your choice, you can try, but please come back to give your experience as to how it goes.

Hey there, we didn't use the MP, but from what i read over this forum, the MP can't put pressure on the offce in order to finalize the file, as far as I know, all he can do is to get you info where the are in the procedure of your file. About each time they take the file out of the pile to check the status then RE-PUT it in the end, I don't think so, because the logic say that, if for example they have reach X level in your file, they won't put it under the rest of the file wich need more work. I am sorry I don't have an answer for you.

Hi Sadgirl,

I had my MP involved for my husband's PR application thats being processed in NEw delhi.

When i spoke to the MP I was reassured that if anything it always only helps to have the MP involved. and from my personal experience, yes it does help.

Heres how it helped me.... My MP contacted CHC new delhi to get status update on my Husband's file, and right the next day ( aug 11) my husband got a telegram to come for fingerprinting at the Visa office ( aug 20). So i think that if my MP wouldnt have contacted the visa office, the fingerprinting would have been delayed even further..and usually they send correspondence by regular mail and I think getting a telegram was only a result of MP's request for status update or else he would have gotten a regular mail to appear for fignerprinting in September or even october..who knowws...as they only do one batch each month.

thats my personal view.

I hope it all works out for you..I can so relate to the feeling on being helpless and waiting...

This is a very tricky one. I personally would rather wait and be patient than get my MP involved. Because it worked out for someone does not guarantee it will work out for you. Patience is the answer.
The same experience you are having happenned to my elder sister, she had to involve a MP, to her disbelief, this slowed down the process, 2times slower. Therefore, because just someone gave you a positive experience, don't bank on it wholeheartedly, otherwise, am sorry to say, you could be totally disappointed.
The waiting could be frustrating but to involve your MP (IMHO) may have a negative impact in the future.
You can also wait for other senior members to comment, like Leon, PMM, etc.

Leon and/or PPM, is it true that getting the MP to help can slow down the case? Why would it slow down the case? How would it harm the case at all? My MP implied to me that them getting involved will not hinder the case. But I don't know what to think anymore!?!?!? Please comment/advise!

Yes. The only thing that doesn't interrupt the processing is CAIPS requests. That is why if the information is on the web site or the application is within the processing times, the CHC/CIC won't answer.

I think they basically read you the information already available on e-cas.

Once the file is transferred to the local visa office, CIC Mississauga has no idea what is going on with the application. If you call them they will not give you any information as they do not have any. You would need to get in contact with the local visa office that your application was transferred to if you want information on it or order the CAIPS notes. But I'd order the CAIPS notes at least after the interview has taken place or order them if the application is taking an unreasonable amount of time.
