Did you submit your CEC application immediately after gain one year work experience or wait another couple of months? I am struggling that the CIC officer may challenge the time... I never go aboard during my working period... ???

I did, because I was limited by my police clearance (which is valid for only 3 months).

I started work Sept. 6 2011 and my letter was dated Sept. 7, 2012.

I am pretty concerned that they will try to nail me on this one, so I might just send them an updated letter (with an October/November date) probably...just to be sure.

To my knowledge, they do call your employer, and so if you're still with the company by the time they call them, you're well in the clear.

i really dont wanna wait another one or two months... but i heard people saying you'd better work for another couple weeks after one year just in the case if the cic officer challenge the statutory holidays or paid annual holidays :'(

No no I didn't hear anything back from them yet...

Here's what happened:

My police certificate was issued on June 26, so my deadline to apply for PR was September 26 (3 months after issuance of police clearance). Ideally, I would've applied the day after I got my police clearance, but problem was...I started work September 6 of last year, so I had to wait until September 7 of this year to ask for a reference letter. Once I got it on September 11, I sent in my application...I'm still waiting for AOR.

So, in my application, it clearly says my work duration is September 6, 2011 to September 7, 2012. Which is a bit concerning to me, BUT....

According to this thread (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/does-statutory-holidays-count-in-cec-one-year-experience-t118850.0.html) and this thread(http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/cec-work-experience-t101912.0.html), I think we're in the clear (since we worked 12 months full-time - and they count all paid days, like vacation, sick leave and statutory holidays), but to be sure, I'll send them a new letter at a later date anyway (and you should too...if you're still working).

I think the consensus, from what I read here, is you either have to have worked full-time (your letter must state that) or an equivalent of 1950 hours for that year.

How about you give them a call Monday and see what they say?

my boss will travel out of canada after next week and i will call CIC at that time. it takes super long time for waiting.... :(

well, honestly, i think maybe we worry too much. For hourly basis, you need to calculate each day's working hour and you need to be sure to reach 1950 requirement before submit the application. But if we are paid by annual salary, the employer already deem us work on statutory holidays as normal working day and pay us.

beside, on the employment letter if it states we work full time, 40 hrs/week, then the total working hours will be 2080. There are only 10 statutory holidays in Ontario. Even minus 80 hours, we still have another 50 hours, which means another 6 days for extra. we shouldnt worry too much.

I saw somewhere on this forum that you need to apply one year of work starting the day you have received your PGWP.

paid Vacation/holidays are not a problem, you are still "employed." Some people misunderstand the rules regarding the year / hour requirements, and apply before they are eligible; in some cases, the difference may only be a matter of a couple of weeks or months, but now they have to start again from the beginning and re-apply. Remember that the requirements are a MINIMUM. So I personally suggest giving yourself some extra time to ensure you qualify.

There are some reasons (e.g. expiring PCCs or work permits) that may force one to apply ASAP, but you need to be 100% sure you have met the requirements...
