Hey hope everyone is good, long story short my wife is Canadian & we applied for pr residency in 2021, everything went well. In 2022 January my passport that I originally submitted was expired however I already had made new passport in November 2021, Ircc asked me to upload the new passport in March 2022 which I did but after a month I saw the website had bugged and it was uploaded but not submitted and the deadline had been passed, then we didn't hear from ircc until yesterday. Yes after 13 months, the visa was ready to be stamped on old passport but it was expired and the visa was supposed to expire in October 2022 but they simply didn't put the visa on the new passport that I had uploaded on their website. Now you might wonder how I know all this, so we put In a request and mailed ircc to give us complete history on our application so they sent us a 22 page long pdf which contained all this detail, the application was approved but in ircc website it still says decision pending and they don't know answer mails. However they sent me a mail on 19th April saying additional documents have been uploaded .What should I do? I need to reapply or is there a way to get the visa stamped as it was supposed to be, reapplying is something I can't do at this time. Does anyone ever had a similar situation, any info would suffice. Thank you guys

Your 'long story short' is really neither of those, nor really coherent. Can't figure out what you are asking, specifically.

If you have a PR application, and now you have received the passport request and you are abroad - where they ask you to physically send the passport to the visa application centre/vfs - that's what you do. You send the current passport. You follow the instructions. You don't need to do special information provision about the fact that your previous passport expired and you got a new one.

Because going by the title you gave to this thread "did this happen to anyone before", with respect to having a passport expire and get a new one, it is entirely routine and not even worth mentioning.

(If you really want to you could include a short note "this is my new passport" and a photocopy of the tombstone page, but it really is not necessary).

My friend, its not that simple. This whole thing I've said here happened in March 2022, at the time they just wanted me to upload the new passport In the ircc upload document portal, yes its PR via spouse sponsorship. I didn't submit the passport in time, I was a week late after the 30 days deadline. Its been 13 months since this has taken place, now how do i know the application was proved and they were to stamp the visa? Because of gcms information application request that I had submitted which was a long 22 pages history covering everything that happened to my application, interestingly they now have my new passport details but the application was last updated on June 2022 according to the gcms report. Today when I logged into my ircc account this is what it said "19th April 2023, we are reviewing your documents that you provided". I don't know if I am to reapply, how can I reapply when the previous application isn't officially closed. My medical was expired in October 2022 and that's when the visa was supposed to expire, everything was approved by them and marriage was considered genuine by ircc as seen in the gcms report, how can I get them to stamp the visa. What can I do, the has it happened before to anyone simply meant that have you been requested to upload a document or a passport and you did it in 37 days and not the usual 30 day deadline what was the outcome and how did you overcome it thorough which channel? I hope you understand now,
Thanks

Still do not fully understand. Are you in Canada or not? Where are you applying from and with what nationality? Usually one does not just 'upload' a passport, but instead one physically submits it.

Have you tried contacting IRCC directly [in the THIRTEEN MONTHS since this came up] instead of just waiting? You could try your MP.

[Why order GCMS notes instead of actually contacting them?]

So no, not clear. But yes it is unusual that someone waits 13 months to figure this out so not sure anyone can tell you. If they do indeed wish to proceed, they could/likely would ask for new medical and possibly other checks. Hard to say though.

I have sent them many mails, yes and usually generic replies. I don't like in Canada, my wife does and I'm Pakistani, ordered gcms as a last resort and like you said they should ask for new medical and other checks instead of me reapplying when the application isn't full closed even. It family class sponsorship for pr. Hope its clear now

It's not clear and little of this makes sense. When a passport request is actually issued to a Pakistani national, it requires physical submission of the passport, not 'uploading.'

"Sending a lot of emails" is not meaningful or likely helpful at this point. You'll need to call or speak to IRCC directly or through your MP's office. In this case, strongly suggest the sponsor contact MP's office.

the visa was supposed to expire in October 2022 but they simply didn't put the visa on the new passport that I had uploaded on their website.
This is the part that I do not understand. IRCC may have requested you to update your copy of passport in their record since you have a new/current passport. But they DO NOT "put visa" on any copy of passport record that's "uploaded" to them virutally.

Did they request you to physcially send your current passport for your stamp? (generally referred as passport request)
If you did send them your new passport, when did that happen? Did you receive your passport back?

If none of the above happened, then you wait for IRCC to inform you for your next step. Most likely your application is still in progress and if your medical has since expired, you may get a re-medical request.

Given what's been going on, I'd suggest not waiting here in case there is something pending / expected from the applicant or sponsor. But I'd suggest sponsor contact and try to get this straightened out. Most likely it is in fact normal processing or close to it.

Best guess is that the request received was NOT the passport request for visa purposes (in fact, rather obviously not).
