2 days ago I submitted my application at Canada Post for next day delivery with tracking and sent my outland application to this address:

Case Processing Center - Mississauga
P.O. Box 6100- Station A
MISSISSAUGA, ON L5A 4H4

2 days later the package has not been delivered and Canada post cannot tell me why.

Was I supposed to sent it to the courier address???

Totally freaking out right now.

More likely yes. When Canada Post Priority package is sent to a PO Box they don't actually deliver the package but only a pick up card is dropped into the PO Box as a signature is required for pick up. Canada Post Priority should be sent to the courier address. I also used Canada Post priority next day delivery and sent it to the courier address, it was received next day and did not encounter any problems.
Hopefully you will get the package back ASAP and are able to resend to the courier address.

PO box or courier, it doesn't really matter. Ours were sent in the PO box but still got a signature. :D

My post tracking did not update status to "delivered" with a signature until after 2 days after it was delivered. Even the call center agents didn't know what to tell me, but it ended up that the deliverer scanned the package late.

What does it say when you key in your tracking number on their system?

Iay, it does matter. If it was send Canada Post Xpresspost than the PO box is ok. but if it is sent via Priority it will not be dropped off in the PO Box without a signature.

Canada Post provides the following options for the delivery of items:
Category

Mail Delivered To Post Office Boxes and
General Delivery

Items with a Signature or Collection of funds

A Delivery Notice Card2 will be left in the addressee's post office box.

From Canada Post website:

"All mail addressed to your Postal Box address will be deposited there—except for any items that require a signature or are simply too large to fit into the compartment. And even in these cases, your mail is still secure."

Also a lot depends on the actual mail carrier, some will go out of their way and go to the actual address, as the PO Box is in the same building. Some are too lazy, some will take it and carry it to the actual courier drop off. And some unfortunately are even too lazy to fill out the card (happens a lot and when i am waiting for a package I usually go to the post office on my own asking if a package is held for me there because I did not receive the canada post card) this week alone it happened twice.

I'm pretty sure they will get the package regardless.

When i sent in my passport here in Hong Kong i actually sent it to the right address, which was a PO box. Kept looking online to see if it was delivered or not, just to see the next day "delivery was unsuccessful" and i was FREAKING out also. called the embassy, and post office frantically and finally found out that they (using registered mail, which i assume you used) they would put a pickup slip in the PO box, and not the actual document folder.

In my case, the next day i tracked again online and this time it had been updated to "delivered" which means someone from the embassy went to pick up at the post office.

Thanks for that info.
I required a signature on ours too, we were probably just lucky that someone was actually there when Canada post came to deliver parcels that day.

Thanks for the replies guys, now I can't even remember which PO Box number I put!! I took the address directly from CIC's website. :-X :-X

This is the worst feeling because I have police checks in there that will be expiring next week :( :(

This is the status online: Item processed at local delivery facility in Mississauga

I can't believe that I made such a dumb error after obsessing about this application and going over and over things. I'm wondering why Canada Post allowed me to send to a PO Box when paying if they knew a signature was required.

I'm really hoping that someone picks it up soon or it's on its way back to me. There is nothing really that I can do I suppose

I personally think everyone should use the courier address instead of the PO Box. The thing is, only regular mail from Canada Post Office will be delivered to the PO Box. My mother in law used to to work for Canada Post and she advised me to send it to the courier address. I sent mine from Germany, (Express regular mail) without requiring a signature. Sent it on a Thursday, got there on Tuesday morning. I was notified for the delivery by Canada Post and I could also print the receipt from their website.

I sent it to the courier address because I wasn't sure if, once in Canada, my mail will be picked up by a courier or not. So because everyone delivers to a regular address (courier, express, Canada Post, etc.) I was sure that it will get there. PO Box deliveries a bit complicated, especially if you send your package internationally.

Canada Post really disappointed me on this one. It was sent via express post with that next day guarantee delivery. There is no signature required for this so a PO box is fine they told me. All they can offer me at this time is a refund of my money.

Let me tell you, $15 just does not cut it if my package arrives after all the police checks have expired.

I guess sometimes you have to learn things the hard way. I'll see the latest on Monday.

If it was a no signature item via express post it should have been delivered, maybe canada post just didn't update their system. Wait to Monday and check status again online. Canada Post tracking system is not very reliable just like ecas, they don't live update anything, so if no signature was required more than likely the item is with CIC already.

There are 2 different PO Boxes too.

Spouses, common-law or conjugal partner and dependent children:
CPC Mississauga
P.O. Box 3000, Station A
Mississauga, ON
L5A 4N6

Other family class applications:

CPC Mississauga
P.O. Box 6100, Station A
Mississauga, ON

Patience09:
We went through a runaround with CanadaPost after sending ours out and the system didn't update for a week after it was delivered. I wouldn't even be surprised if you got AOR before the tracking system updated. Canada Post is just pretty bad at updating their site, even though it was delivered the day after we sent it out.

We sent it Xpresspost to the address you have listed, the PO Box. When it did update on Canada Post's website finally it did have a signature.

Clearly, this makes me feel a bit better. I hate the feeling of not being in control, but hey, this is usually how we feel during immigration processes with CIC ::)
