Hi Everyone,

This morning I received an email from CIC requesting that I provide them with a copy or scanned image of my passport's bio-data page (photo page) and a copy of my sponsor's most recent pay stub.

The email goes on to say

"Passport Copies: You are a citizen of a country that is exempted from obtaining a visa to visit Canada under Regulation 190 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. You are therefore required to send only a copy or scanned image of the photo page of your passport and of any pages indicating a validity extension or change to your personal information. You must submit these copies/scans for yourself and for all your accompanying family member(s)."

Of course I immediately emailed the requested documents back to them.

My question is - since they are saying I'm a citizen of a country exempted from obtaining a visa to visit Canada and they only asked for a copy of the photo page of my passport -

Is this the same as me getting a PPR??? Or later on will they ask me to mail my passport to them?

I'm hoping that the email means I've made a leap forward. The email also says they've determined an interview is not necessary at this time.

Thanks for your help!

Kim

Which VO is processing your visa? for most of visa-exempt applicants, this type of email is the last stage, and you won't be required to send in your passport, as you don't require a visa to enter Canada. Most likely, you are asked to send in a copy of your passport so that they can make sure that they have the correct info before issuing the COPR, that will arrive by post at your mailing address. So - indeed it is a leap forward :)

It shouldn't be too long now!

Looks like the OP applied from the US. So PPR is the last step for a standard application :)

Ok here's the million dollar question - is there a general rule of thumb for the time between getting the PPR and the COPR? The sale of our house is closing in 3 1/2 weeks and hubby is coming to take me to Canada - should I update my address to his address now? Or might I get my COPR before then?

The time varies on many factors, including when eCAS was updated and where COPR is getting mailed to. It can be as little as a few days to as long as as two months. I think anything longer than a month is time to get a tiny bit concerned.

My eCAS still says "Application Received." There have been no updates to the website since they received our application.

Dcgroo, I applied in October from the United States. My processing center is Ottawa.

My wife went straight from "Application Received" to "Decision Made". She then got COPR a few days later.
