Is this different from the essay we are supposed to write? Any ideas how i should address this. thanks u!
There is no mandatory way you must do the application. i.e. we never even did an essay, just followed the development of relationship questions from the forms, and put our answers in the spaces provided on the forms.

The Development or Relationship section of 5490 form is pretty self explanatory. Just answer the questions honestly and in your own way, and touch on the specific points that are asked (like describing trips or outings, meeting family and friends, etc etc).

You end your essay like this.... It's been _____ years now that we are living together. Like any other relationship ours is not perfect. We love, we fight, we argue but this doesn't stop us from holding on to our promise to be there for each other for the rest of our lives.

try and not make it too long!! the VO don't really have time to read long essays. If there is something out of the ordinary in your relationship that needs explaining, then elaborate a little bit. If you have a fairly "straightforward" application, then keep to the main "events" (met, introduced to family, moved in together, got married, kids, etc. - and not necessarily in that order!), to give a genral idea of how your relationship developed into what it is now. Other than that - no need to write anything long!
