Hi guys me and my sister got admission from college (BA post graduate degree), they want 6000 $ CAD deposit fee for preparing LOA, Is this amount counts for my 1st year tuition fee? I have 25k CAD for my first year, however after paying this deposit the amount will be around 19k. Are they gonna make this count?! and by paying the 1st semester tuition, do we have a better chance to get study permit or it doesn't matter in this case since it considered as a deposit fee?!

which college as sounds a large deposit and which course. Amount you pay probably does not make much difference to getting a permit but is important to find out what refund process is if you do not get a permit and 6 k sounds high as a basic acceptance.

It`s Langara College (Business Administration) post degree diploma. I know I`ve got an admission from Ryerson too (the deposit was 1000 $). They told me that in case of rejection from CIC, they gonna refund all the deposit.

And in case you attempt to change school, they will keep close to 50 percent (approx.) of deposit. That's how business work here.

Colleges usually adjust the amount to your first term when deposited in advance. Also they normally refund 100% in case the study permit refused.

You should have got this confirmation via letter or email. In all cases you need to confirm from them. Paying in advance doesn't assure the successful study permit, but off course will be counted for showing that you can meet required cost of study. If you decide to pay this fee to get LOA then make sure to submit the receipt along with your study permit application

Hope this helps.
