Deported parents...help help

Hi
My parents were deported from Canada to India(because of refused refugee claim) 20 years ago.Now they really want to go back to Canada.Is it possible?
Should they file for TRV? How long will it take?
Moreover I am Canadian by birth.Can I sponsor them?what are the chances for their approval?

Personally, I think that the chances of them obtaining a TRV are almost zero, but they can try.
You can apply to sponsor them from January 2014 as long as you meet the eligibility requirements.

Since it's been 20 years since they left Canada - I'd say it's worth a shot applying - especially if:

- they are very well established in their home country and can provide proof of property owned, employment, assets, etc.
- they have immediate family in their home country (other children)
- they have traveled to other countries requiring visas since they were removed from Canada

No one can tell you what their chances of approval are.

Ah - that's too bad. It would be far better if they had traveled outside of the country - especially to countries where they required a visa to enter.

Again, impossible to say what their chances of success are. However the prior deportation certainly works against them - and so does the lack of travel since they were removed.

When you say "deported", do you actually mean that, or did they leave after being asked? This could make a huge difference...

Departure order was issued to them,but they did not follow it because their case was pending in federal court and they were waiting for the judgement.As a result departure order became deportation order.

Then they require an "ARC" to return to Canada as well as a TRV. don't hold your breath that it will be issued.

Chances are low. They should be prepared for a refusal.
