Yes, you can see it here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp You need a job offer or you are a PhD student or just completed your PhD in Canada.

Hi, I am from Pakistan and I have received admission offer letter from University of Ottawa for the "Post Grad Diploma in Mobile Device Applications" program. It's a 1 year program and my session starts in March 2013. I am going to submit my visa application in 1-2 weeks.

I am married and have a 2 years old daughter as well. My wife is just intermediate and doing her Bachelors (first year) here in Karachi. She is good in English though.

I am financially strong, have done bachelors in computer science 2006, and have got 6 years of consecutive experience in software engineering.

Now I have some queries related to dependents' visa:

Q#1: Along with my visa application which I am going to submit next week, can I apply for visa for MY WIFE and KID at the same time?

Q#2: Some local agents are saying that you CAN'T apply for the visa of your wife and daughter along with your own visa. You must first apply for your own visa only and then go to Canada alone and then apply for your wife and kid after 6 months. Some are saying after 3 months. It's quite confusing. Can you please provide me 'authentic' information, and help me take the right decision? I want to confirm if it's really NOT possible to take dependents immediately with you. Some people also said that yes it's allowed to apply for dependents along with your own study visa application BUT the embassy will REJECT it because they give very low preference/consideration to such applications.

Q#3: Is 1 year Post Grad Diploma from University of Ottawa will be good enough to get the visa or the embassy will NOT allow visa on the basis of 1 year program? I am actually interested in 1 year year program so that the duration would be short and the workload of study will also be low

Thanks,
Zuhaib

You can apply for an open work permit for your wife and TRV for your child at the same time you apply for your visa but it is possible that they will refuse because of risk of overstay.

If you apply yourself first saying your are leaving your wife and child behind, you have a better chance of getting your study permit because your wife and child form your ties to your country.

Later you apply for your wife and child, it is possible they will be refused because of risk of overstay because you are already in Canada and they do not have such strong ties to the country any more.

Thanks Leon,

What the TRV mean?
Also, can you please suggest any way that would maximize chances for me and my wife and kid to go together? Will it be helpful if after my going to Canada, my wife applies for admission at any university, and applies for the student visa based on that? Will her chances be increased if she joins me after 3-6 months later as student?

Thanks,
Zuhaib

TRV is a temporary resident visa, same as a visit visa. Your child is too young to go to school, otherwise you would need to apply for study permit for minor for the child. I really do not know it it would be better for your wife to apply for a study permit rather than open work permit but if overstay is the main reason people are refused, then OWP or study permit would not make a difference.

2. Is there any seperate application form kit to file spouse visa, if yes please share with me or let me know from where i can get it online.

Hello Sir/Madam,

Good afternoon and hope you're doing good.

I had a question regarding the dependent visa. My fiancée is working as Asst. Category Manager from past 4 months and we got engaged this month and we are getting married in the month of march 2014.
I just wanted to know after marriage how many days it will take to get the spouse dependent visa as we are planning to settle in Canada and the procedure for applying the spouse visa or dependent visa for me.

Do revert me back and thank you for your positive reply.

Regards,
Maddy

As you apply for your study permit, your husband can apply for an open work permit based on your permit. Then you can go together.

Hello,

My wife and me work for the same company. She is in Toronto on a long term assignment (2 yrs). I have a valid dependent visa. I do not see any scope of a onsite assignment for me. I wanted to know if I can work from Toronto (Canada) if I get a Work from Home option. Are there any legal issues? Would appreciate if I could get the right guidance. Thanks in advance.

Hi Leon.
I have a query.
My wife planning to apply for student visa to Canada ( Manitoba ). Actually earlier she applied for Canada Student Visa for Centennial College - Toronto. Due to processing time delay she requested the VFS people to stop her process and send her passport back. She got her passport & visa neither rejected nor accepted.
Now she want to apply for Student Visa again.
Shall we both travel at same time ?
How many days does it takes for Student visa - Spouse ?
I got rejected for Canada Student visa in 2010, will it affect now at any case ?
Will previous US Rejections affect Canada Visas too(we both rejected to US F1 Visa) ?
Can she apply under SPP Category now ?

Thanks in Advance,
Staggy.
