Dependent turning 19 while waiting for PR

We've applied for PR (my Thai wife) from outside Canada and I've been accepted as sponsor. When filling the application, we did not include my wife's teenager who's 18 now. But since, our financial status has changed and allows us to take her with us to Canada. However, she will turn 19 next August, probably before my wife is granted PR. Is my teenager's application valid for the time of the application, or the time when Immigration Canada grants PR? Also, will making this change in our application - adding a dependent - unduly prolong the waiting time? Thank you for any input on this situation.

I am afraid you have made a major mistake in your application. You must declare the dependent child, your wife's teenage daughter, in the application, whether she is going to Canada or not. If you have not included her in your original application, not only you can never sponsor her, you are guilty of misrepresentation. I think the only course of action for you is to withdraw the application and start over.

No no, My dependent has been duly declared in my application, her medical exam duly done, and all other documents relating to her, etc. However, I stated that she was not coming with us to Canada because, at the time, of a lack of funds. So the only change in my application would be that she is coming with us. If it's possible because she'll be 19 by the time immigration approves our application - that's the real question.

Sorry I misunderstood. I have no idea whether you can add her to your original app or not, may be some of the senior members of this broad can tell you. In any case you can always file a new application just to sponsor your daughter. If you file now, her age will be locked in.

Simply inform the visa office that you wish to change the daughters status from non-accompanying to accompanying. Since she's already done medical and been included in the app, it should be a relatively quick change and both your wife and her daughter will receive PRs together.
Since the daughter was under age 19 when app was submitted, her age is locked in as a dependent so doesn't matter how old she is by time the app is approved.

Yes, you will need to pay the $150 dependent fee.
