hi i am a Canadian pr holder and wanted to know if i can sponsor my daughter under the dependent child program my daughter is over 25 years in age and the program mentions regardless of age a person is admissible while i know that the new rule states the dependent child must be under 19 years of age . my daughter has psychiatric and mental problems and has been dependent on me for a long time does she qualify under the dependent child program for immigration to canada

Was she included as a non-accompanying dependent in your PR application and was she medically examined as part of the processing of your PR application?

hi there i got my pr through my son and i want my daughter to come to Canada ,she has been diagnosed with a mental illness and in the form i did it through an immigration lawyer so i don't know the technicalities of it can you please guide me about what should i do to get my daughter to Canada she has doctors from her home country diagnose her with a mental illness

THe same question remains, when your son sponsored you was your daughter included as a dependent and did she do a medical exam?

If the answer is yes, then you can most likely sponsor her.

If the answer is no, then you most likely can't sponsor her.

The grey issue I see here is that if the OP came to Canada through PGP and did list daughter as non-accompany dependent and the daughter did get her medical done. Wouldn't listing OP's daughter as non-accompany dependent, proves that she is not "dependent" on her parents despite having psychiatric and mental problems, since the parents were able to leave their daughter behind and move to Canada? The daughter has been living on her own since the parents left her behind.

You must find out the technicalities of your application from your son or the immigration lawyer.

You need to confirm if your daughter was listed as a non-accompanying dependent and if she took the medical exam and also provided police certificates as part of your application.

We cannot advise you further until you answer these questions.

Specifically if you filled out a form similar to "Generic Application Form for Canada" (IMM 0008) or "Additional Dependants/Declaration" (IMM 0008DEP). It should have been on that form.
