Hello everyone. I had been sponsered as a dependent child in 2007 for PR along with my parents.. Received medicals in 2011. The medicals of my mother failed and the file was kept aside .. got remedicals but no approval since then. Now in April 2018 because of the policy change about medical inadmissibility, got remedicals. All of us cleared for medicals. We informed the council about my marriage, wife and child in the ADDITIONAL FAMILY INFORMATION form. Received PPR and finally the Visa and COPR. Now the Problem is that i am mentioned as Single on the marital status on COPR. Kindly suggest what should i do..

You are no longer classified as a dependent in your parents' application since you got married. Contact the visa office and tell them to remove you from the application.

Definition of a dependent child on or before July 31, 2014

Children 21 years old and under

To be eligible as a dependant, your child must not be married or not in a common-law relationship.

Children 21 years old and under who are married or in a common-law relationship may qualify as overage dependants if they meet both of these requirements:
  • have been a full-time student on an ongoing basis, and
  • have depended largely on a parent's financial support since they became a spouse or partner.
Overage dependants

To be eligible as a dependant, children 22 years old and older must:
  • have depended on a parent's financial support since before the age of 22 because of a physical or mental condition
    or

  • have been a full-time student on an ongoing basis since before the age of 22, and
  • have depended on a parent's financial support since that time.
If your child became a spouse or partner before the age of 22, your child may be eligible as a dependant only if your child meets both of these requirements:
  • has been a full-time student on an ongoing basis since before the age of 22, and
  • has depended on a parent's financial support since they became a spouse or partner.

I had notified to the IRCC Canada in the form where i had to supplement my additional family information about my wife's name and son's name and their date of birth and place of birth. Also, i have the name of my spouse on my Passport on which the Passport have been Stamped. Kindly Suggest

Keeping into view, that i was applied in 2007 and because of the policy of medical inadmiasibility, my file had been put aside since 2011. Now as the rule of medical inadmissibility have changed in 2018, i had been asked for remedicals and additional family information( this form was only for me i.e. yhe dependent child) where i had mentioned my family details about my wife and son. I also have the name of my Spouse on Passport which was scanned and sent to IRCC and which have further been stamped for visa. Please suggest

You are no longer a dependent. You cannot add your family to the app and need to be removed.

If you land, your wife and child will be excluded from the Family Class and you will never be able to sponsor them to Canada.

Cleary there has been a clerical error. It is still up to you to notify CIC again that you are no longer single and are married with a child. You will be misrepresenting yourself if you don't correct the fact that you are no longer single. On top of that you would never be able to sponsor your wife and child in the future.
