My partner and I received our COPRs this month. I’m the main applicant and my partner is the dependant.

I’m taking up my COPR and plan to land in Canada this month and to live there for the next three years at the least. However, my partner just received an amazing offer for her dream job in our home country and intends to take it up instead. As she would be under probation for the first year and is unable to travel during this time, she is no longer keen to carry out the landing for her COPR. This would in effect be a renunciation of the COPR as I understand.

Would this affect my PR status in any way? or is the main applicant’s PR status independent of the dependants?

If she is the dependent and your application has no reliance on her *points* or something similar to get approved for PR then as the primary applicant, you can land before your spouse does.
Your spouse can land until the very last day that the COPR is valid if they choose not to land it doesn’t affect you as you are the primary applicant.

thank you so much for responding. I will try and convince her to land at some point before expiry but relieved to know it won’t affect my status
