Greetiings situation ,sponsoring my wife who is from england, she is now in canada with me
so pr application from within
Her children are in uk with thier father not accompanying however require medicals just the same well because they do "another story"
now im trying to get a clear answer the medicals require passport or official identity document with photo
their is no other document in england other than passport which has a photo
and the kids passports are expired ,am i stuck having to dish out all that cash to renew their passports
even though they are not traveling anywhere or is there another option
the high commision has already requested copies of birth certificates and ohotos be forwarded to return forms for medicals to kids dad to bring with him to docs
any help as always appreciated

what a tangled web they weave

No, if the children are unaccompanying, they do not have to have passports. They need to bring the required photos to have the medical examination done and documents to prove they are who they say they are like birth certificate, etc. They could bring the expired passports with them as well. Why don't you have your wife call the DMP, explain that the kids will NOT be going to Canada, and ask what, if any, documents they need to bring with them for the medical exam.

We did and they state that a passport is listed on the Canadian website doc so must be needed
thats what i love about dealing with all these folks they are the profesionals and they seem so undecided
the CIC Info line rep answered well if they ask for it on the website must need it.
that sure sounded like a learned response,,geesh
This is what i see on cic site

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5289E12.asp

and on the medical site states this

http://www.leedsstudentmedicalpractice.co.uk/

I mean unfounded costs are rampant throughout this whole process but this seems even a little too much even for them

Update ,our canadian immigration person who has our file actuallly returned my message
staying true to course she didnt think they needed valid passports as they arent traveling however when i mentioned that the Docs website stated that we did she said oh well its another country so you have to follow what they request......huh.....arent they following guidelines as put in place by CIC
pass the buck, nobodys sure, just do it all needed or not, its only our money shrug
frustrating as all hell the indifference of these people and their lack of conviction in anything they say
she actually was getting an attitude when i asked who is in charge Canada or London in this thing
unbelievable

I don't think your question was about whether or not they needed to have passports to be included as non-accompanying dependents (they don't). I think your question was about whether or not they have to present passports at their medical examination. Check with the DMP who would be doing their medical exam but both of my sons had their medical exams without having to supply passports. I don't remember what ID they had to provide - granted, they were both older teens with drivers' licences - but I can say for sure that they didn't have to have passports. It's possible, in your case, that the DMP might accept expired passports if they're able to use them to at least identify the children.
