Hello,

We are almost done my husband's application and we are just waiting to do his medical on August 17th. My question is, we have a 6 month old son and we don't have his citizenship papers or Canadian passport yet. We are going to list him as Korean but I'm wondering if we would need to get a medical check for him as well? I as this because the hospital asked us if we needed an appointment for him as well. Thanks

He is Canadian (I assume), so don't list him as Korean. If he is included as a Korean, then he would have to have the medical done. But he can't be sponsored, since he is a Canadian, you just haven't gotten the proof yet.

Hi

If you were born in Canada or became a naturalized Canadian prior to the child's birth, the child is Canadian, regardless of whether you have applied for proof of citizenship yet. You do not list the child as Korean or include him in the app as a dependent.

I suggest you immediately apply for the child's Certificate of Citizenship. You can also apply for a limited validity Canadian passport along with the certificate.

Thanks everyone for your answers. I assumed we wouldn't include him in the application. When we went to apply for his citizenship today at the embassy, they lady didn't give clear answers so she confused me even more.

You aren't applying for his citizenship. You are applying for PROOF of his citizenship.

The certificate app is here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/certif.asp.

I got confused too, be sure you're applying for 'canadian citizenship certificate' not ordinary canadian citizenship.
