Hi all,

I apologize if this is off topic.

I just found out my PR card is expired and am departing Friday for my sisters Wedding. My carrier said I should be fine going and coming but MAY be denied boarding when leaving Canada. I am prepared to be honest about my over site and can provide necessary proof of residency upon my return along with my just recently expired PR card. Can an airline do this? Do they even need to see my PR card when I am leaving?

Thanks in advance!

1. No, they don't check the PR card when leaving, unless you are going to Mexico and your citizenship requires a visa for Mexico. (PRs are exempt for Mexican visas)
2. Coming back may be a "horse of a different colour", if you are a citizen of country that requires a visa to enter Canada, they may refuse to board you. Some airlines may refuse to board without a return ticket, if you are from a visa exempt country.
