Denial of extension - Question

So I have a question. I've been in Canada for 5 months, legally. I have to go home next month, but am considering applying for an extended stay so that my boyfriend and I can get married in September (he's waiting on his divorce, thus why we can't do it now)

My question is: Say they deny my request. I have to go home, right? If I go home, and he comes down to visit in September and we get married there, can I come back to Canada with him as his wife? I suppose I could ask for a visitor visa before we begin the sponsorship process. Does anybody know how likely they are let you back in if you're married to a Canadian?

Did my question make any sense? Hope so. :-\

If you apply for a visa extension, I understand that once it is received you have "implied status" until a decision is made.
At present visa extension processing times are shown as 76 days, so in theory, even if you are refused you have 76 days to get married.

If they refuse your request, yes you have to go home.
Being married to a Canadian does not "give" you any extra rights or privileges (for the purpose of immigration), you still have to meet the criteria for admission into Canada.

Thank you Baloo.. however sadly his divorce won't be final til September, so the implied status doesn't help me. I'm off to read your thread though!

I know, I wonder though how it would go if I came back with him. I wonder how likely they'd be to let me come in.

Hearsay only....
coming in with your partner should be easier, because they can see the person, rather than listening to a voice on the phone.

Another random thought, most people should be able to "see" that you are crazy about each other - if you know what I mean

Just remember, don't overdo the :-* in front of the POE officer
