Since you applied in January, you are most likely being processed under the old system, the one that has about a 6 year waiting list for India.

Wait for the new list of professions. If dentist or physiotherapist is there, withdraw the old application and apply again with the primary applicant being the one whose profession is on the list.

If neither profession is on the list, keep your old application, maybe they will add more workers to clear the backlog. Actually I think they already did add a few. In the meantime, if you want to try to get to Canada faster, you can try to get a job offer and temporary work permit.

Hello.

Leon, if you applied before February 2008, is it possible to withdraw your application and submit another application after the list has been published (say because your profession may be on the list). If that is so, then how long would it take for the new application to be completed and finalised. I have been told, when i submitted my application in January 2007, that no processing would be done on my file for approximately, 30-36 months.

Thanks.

Yes, when the list it out, you can withdraw and apply again. Immigration promised that new processing would take 12 months or less but we will see if they can keep it.

If the conservatives win the election we'll see the list if not who knows what future of CIC will be.
