Demand Draft (DD) from India will not valid for fees payment

Hello Friends,

Greetings.

I am applying for FSW-2014 and for that I took the DD based on me and my family members from HDFC
bank to be payed in CAD.

Once I got the DD, I was informed by bank official that the DD is valid for 3 months only.
She also informed that since this is as per the RBI guideline and no bank in India would actually provide the DD for 6 months validity.

This will not be acceptable for CIC , since they require atleast 6 months validity.

Can someone please suggest on this ? Is CC payment is the only option from India?

ICICI bank is giving 6 months validity.I took a dd from icici bank only.and today i got a mail from cic that they encashed my dd on june 2nd and i got per also.definitly icici bank in india will give dd with 6 months validity.its for sure.pls try it.

Thanks for your reply, but as per Bank, it's RBI guideline and not Banks that no DDs or Cheques are valid more than 3 months.

So this must be applicable for all Banks? Is,nt it ?

Demand Draft taken for CIC Fees from Hdfc Bank does not have Validity Date.As per Bank if there is no Validity date on DD,that DD is indefinitely valid.

Anybody has idea on same?

I am also facing the same issue. I have to prepare the DD from HDFC bank. But as per branch manager the validity of DD will be for three months. Pls suggest what to do now.

I have taken a

A) letter of reference from my Head of the Dept (saying experience AND roles)
B) Experience letter from Principal of college (saying experience only, without roles/duties)

My questions

1. WILL THIS BE SUFFICIENT
2. SHALL I SUBMIT A and B or ONLY A
3. DO I NEED ANY OTHER DOCUMENT / LETTER

Try with ICICI Bank, they do provide foreign exchange Drafts which are valid for 6 months. I have heard other banks do also provide the same however, not SBI/HDFC & Canara Bank. The other option is to pay by Credit Card like Amex

I have heard of a case where Visa was rejected as CIC tried to encash the draft after 4 months. Overall the feedback has been to get the draft from a bank which provides validity for 6 months however, some people have pointed put that CIC being a internationally renowned entity, the Bank may not reject the payment even after 3 months. This is mere conjecture and I will certainly advise you to go with a bank which has 6 months validity

ICICI HDFC issues DD which is valid for 6 months ( only for forex DD). You need to check with particular branch forex manager.

As per CIC, if there is no validity, then the draft should be submitted along with the PR application no later than 1 month from date of issue of cheque.

Also speak the Branch Manager of HDFC Bank. Fx drafts can be issued for 6 months validity by most of the banks. I am myself working in a bank and know this for sure.

Hi, need an immediate help please

We have taken a DD from Andhra bank on 30 june 2014 for FSW and submitted it along with our PR application on july 9.

Our DD doesn't have any validity mentioned on it, please suggest what does it mean.

I have an account with Corporation bank, They said they can give me a DD with Canadian funds and that its valid for 6 Months.

Hi Varun, please check the CIC rules and conditions about corporation bank. I remember they dont accept the DDs given by corporation banks.

Oh really, Thats strange.. !! Corporation bank is an nationalized bank.
I tried to find info online, I could not find it. can u plz provide the link if u have??
Anyways, I guess i will try to get the DD from HDFC? I guess other option will be to get from SBI.
