hello,

i am a canadian permanent resident and my non-canadian wife, who is still in other country, is having a baby soon and we want our child to be delivered here in canada. we wanted to know what are the possible options for us besides applying for spouse visa. i know spouse visas would take at least 6 months.

i wanted to know:
1. given my wife will be approved for visit visa, will her child delivery be covered by the canada (manitoba) health care system since i am a permanent resident of canada?
2. if not, do you have any idea how much would it cost of giving birth to a child in manitoba?
3. is it advisable to inform the visa consulate that she is pregnant to a canadian resident and we wanted our child to be born here in canada?
4. what would be the complication, if any, with this kind of situation?

Re: deliver a baby in canada, help!

help pls..

1) No.

2) It will vary depending on if she has complications. She should have at least 10k in the bank

3) They won't care. Chances of her getting a visa are extremely slim.

4) Even if she gets a visa, she can be denied at the border. If she needs a medical for the visa(visitors) she can't do the x-ray while pregnant. You're better to add the baby to the PR application so the baby can become a PR with your wife.

If you happen to get youre wife into the country and have the baby here. The baby would be covered immediately after birth but your wife would not be.
