Degree awarded on WES form

Hi, I completed my Bachelor of Engineering in June 2016 but my convocation was in January 2017 after which I got my degree certificate. My degree certificate says 2017 as date issued but my transcript says 2016 as my year of graduation. Can anyone suggests what year will be consider as “degree awarded” year on WES?

Convocation is just a celebration of awarding degree from Dean or special guests. Some people attend convocation quite later than completing their education.
The date of convocation doesn't matter. The degree date is crucial.
