Defer decision

Need help on the defer decision. Given the situation, many of the students has deferred their Fall-2020 intake to the Winter-2021 intake. Will there be enough rush for the winter intake visa applications thereby again creating the backlog due to so many students now trying to go for the winter semester(if VFS in india didn't open till september). Can we have the scenario again where students gets study permit after the starting date of the program. Is it better to defer to the May-2021 intake instead of Jan-2021. Please share your views.

It is very hard to predict the speed at which IRCC will process study permit applications. Even before that though it is still not certain if and when international students will be allowed to travel to Canada. My suggestion is that if time is not any issue and you have flexibility then go for May '21 intake. If time is of the essence and you do not mind the risks associated with Jan '21 intake then go for that.

Hey guys,

I have a question. I have enrolled for the 2020 fall intake, plan is to do one semester outside canada and go to canada on or before 31st dec 2020 (for PGWP). My question is, let's say they will not happen to open the borders during that time, so will I be able to differ my final semester to some other later semester ?

That is up to the school. You also have to be a fulltime student and take only scheduled breaks to receive PGWP. No exceptions have been posted due to covid so it is unclear whether your PGWP could be affected.
