I will be carrying 10,000 US dollars as cash on me when landing. So I probably have to declare it.. my question is where do I declare it and might problems arise because Of this..do they ask for example proof of source of these funds etc or does the declaration process make the whole landing experience not as smooth. Should I just carry 7000US instead just to avoid the whole declaration process. Kindly advise. Thanks

You will declare it on your declaration form and yes, they may ask to see proof of the source. If the money is legit, you shouldn't be worried.
If in doubt, declare it. It's on the E311 declaration card that you fill in before presenting yourself to the primary inspection line. If you declare, there are no penalties. If you don't, in theory you could lose all the money by confiscation. By the way it's 10,000 CAD or equivalent, which is now a lot less than 10,000 USD.

Yes, as previously advised, you must declare it in your customs declaration.
Then, you'll be taken to secondary inspection where you'll be asked the details of your money. Since you're landing for PR, they most likely won't inspect it anyway because it's a valid reason to bring in money, and it's not a suspicious/exorbitant amount...I wasn't asked to show anything. They just took me at my word. I wrote my currencies and amounts on a piece of paper, and the officer just took that. Most likely, they'll just ask how much you're carrying and what currency, ask you why you're carrying the money, sign some forms, and you're done.
It's just an extra 5 minutes or so. There shouldn't be any problems.
Three times in April and May crossed to Windsor with more than 10K USD. Always with filled E667 form (Cross-Border Currency and Monetary Instruments Report).
Declared verbally at toll booth, got yellow slip, parked at inspection building. First time poor officers counted all cash by hand ( did not know how to use counting machine) and after that stamped the form and let me go. Another two times cashier just entered log book in their system and stamped the E667 form not even looking at the money. NO question asked about the source of the money, still I kept withdrawal slip from my US bank and was ready to explain. Two times they asked about "some other" money, and I casually told them about pocket $50-60 USD change - they did not care, the main thing was the big amount declared on the form.
I can show my savings account statements. But I do not have the withdrawal slips with me. Unfortunately, I have thrown those away. Will the statements be enough?

There is no minimum. I imagine he will need to pay for a taxi, or lunch....
If he's landing as a PR, he may be asked to show proof of settlement funds. He can show a bank statement for this, doesn't have to carry the full amount.
In terms of money he can carry with him, there's no minimum or maximum for PRs. He can bring in as much or as little as he likes. The only rule is that you need to declare the sum if it's above $10,000 - there's no tax or anything, you just need to tell CBSA.
He should carry at least a few thousand dollars if he's coming for a 2-3 week visit.

As his plan is to stay for longer time period so can he carry 2000$ cash+6000$ in forex card along with his updated bank statements??
