Hi Folks,

I received ITA for the application of my spouse and I. We are in common law so we are requested to fill out declaration of common-law union form. I will go to a notary office to have the form signed.

My question is, do I need to provide common law relationship proofs to CIC in addition to the declaration form. On my document checklist, it only asks "Statutory Declaration of Common Law (IMM5409) (required) (Opens a new window)".

If further proofs are needed such as residential lease contract, joint bank account , should I submit them together under "Statutory Declaration of Common Law (IMM5409) (required) (Opens a new window)" section?

How much proof is enough ? I currently have residential lease contract for 3 years, joint bank account confirmation, driver license with same address, tax return form with same address, but we don't have shared utility bills because I have been paying all of them.

Hope you guys can advise.

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi! You need to provide proof with declaration. You have options for lease, jointly owned property, bank accounts etc in this doc. Choose what is available and upload one pdf file with declaration. I dont think you need utiliti bills, since you already have enough evidence. We provided lease for 4 years, jointly owned property certificate, and our licenses with same address. Its already a lot :) Good luck!
