Hi VickyL,

There is a way of showing our experience so that it is deemed to be continuous.
And by this, I also mean that showing/producing Seaman's Book / CDC (to substantiate your experience) to visa officer can actually ruin your application for the FSW programme.

For sample experience letter that you are asking - I am sorry, I am only providing to those who are enrolling with me for their PR application.

(Hit 'like' if you find the information useful.)
How to enroll with you for PR application? I am 2nd officer from India.

Hi gsohi2011,

You have correctly mentioned things except one, I will reaffirm in points below -

1) Do include your CoC, It is definitely a positive addition to prove your employment and work experience.

2) And, exclude CDC, it is the best approach to avoid going into an unwarranted explanation of continuous and non-continuous experience at this stage. If it is asked at a later stage, you can show it then and prove your stance accordingly, but not wise to show it initially.

3) You may include a couple of random payslips, e.g. most recent one (if you just signed off) and one in between just to further prove your work experience. Most of the PR applicants adopt this practice, they don't usually add all the payslips, therefore you can make use of this practice. However it is a personal choice, if you deem to not include your payslips, it is still okay. It is just a positive addition, not a mandatory requirement.

4) Most importantly, get your experience letter state that you are/were a permanent full-time employee. Mentioning contractual employment will jeopardise your PR application. I can not stress this enough. Because when you are a contractual employee then definitely your experience is not continuous, and you know eligibility for FSW programme.

All the best.

(Hit 'like', if you find it useful... Your likes count.)
As you said that it is will jeopradize the application if not continous, will it be ok if after getting 1 yr continous written on letterhead we get the remaining as contractual.

I am in Maersk ,have 2.5 year as 4th Engineer, will be adding Junior engineer experience ,which was contractual and compaby has given me a seperate letter to for this training and written as contractual employed.

Hi guys,

I am a new member to this forum and thread. I am just beginning my journey into applying for a Canadian PR. I will soon begin the process . I am currently sailing as a second officer with a combined sea time experience as an officer of 42.9 months and 62.9 months as a seafarer. CANADIAN VISA : I have just put in an eligibility assessment request on your website. At the outset, I thank you for this forum. Please help me clarify a few things before I begin the process:
1) Having a deck officer license certified by the Indian Govt, would I need a license certification from Canadian Transport authority prior to applying for a PR?
2) As of now I do not think I would be able to make the requisite points for the Express entry CRS as I am single and do not have any relatives in Canada. However, it seems like I could get through the PNP system. But this makes me a little apprehensive, I am unsure about the Canadian job market in the shipping industry . I did some research on the govt website, and found that Nova Scotia and New Brunswick seem to be looking for deck officers. What are your thoughts on this in terms of states sponsoring merchant navy professionals ?
3) Would it help my cause if I applied after getting Mates and Masters license or a deck officer license would do to ?
4) Since I have 62.9 months of full time paid work experience but its been more than 10 years since i have been working, do I qualify for the full points allotment in this?

Any advise from fellow mariners in the same situation ( Question No. 2 ) as me or been in the same situation and have successfully attained a PR invitation would be really helpful.

Thanks

1 Yes ,you have to get your coc and other Courses certificate assessed by Transport Canada.Only on the basis of that ,they will decide which stage your experience stands as per Canadian shipping industry regulation

2.Its not tough to get a job the way it seems provided that you have a Canadian Coc .Yes ,PNP was an option last year ,but now rules have changed. Now you need a job offer to apply under pnp, which is not possibe as you donot have a Canadian Coc and not a single province has our profession in occupation in demand list.

3 It wont help at all.All you need to do is to start being a tryo in Canadian shipping industry. Coc holds some impostance but that can help you get eligible for Canadian coc exam.

4 Doesnt matter if you have 100 months of experience as maximum points you will get for 3 years.
For eligibility ,first stage is FSW ,in which alteast one year of continous experience is needed without any gaps.
If you can get this ,you can add the remaining experience with gap ( cummulative )to make up 3 years to get maximum CRS points.

Hello Guys,
I'm a second officer with Indian COC and CDC. I have appeared for IELTS in May 2019 and have a CLB 10 score.
There is a lot of detailed information here which is a great relief as there is absolutely no clarity and source of information regarding our field.
I've already submitted my BSc Nautical Transcripts to WES and awaiting an update from them.
The issue is with Work experience and reference letter. Although, there is a lot of information out here in this forum i still have doubts as to how I should apply as a primary applicant. Kindly help.
