Decision Made

Hello there,

We are currently living in Cyprus and attempting to immigrate to Canada. I was born there and lived there for most of my life, moving to Cyprus to start off married life with my British born husband (who has never lived/worked in Canada before). Now a few years down the road we want to buy a house, have kids, etc. November 25th 2013 we submitted the file to the CIC via our immigration lawyer, prepaying the landing fee in the process. Decemeber 30th this appears on the CIC e-client website:

Sponsorship
We received your application to sponsor X on November 25, 2013.

We sent you a letter on December 30, 2013 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

Now my question is, does it mean that they have approved me/rejected me or is this on the whole of the process aka is it entirely approved/rejected? Normally I'd wait for the mail but Cyprus can take up to 21 days to even inform us that a package was delivered for me at the post office. Things move slllllllllooooooooooow around here and I have read that the CIC can be insanely slow as well. The quick turn around has us quite worried.

Anyone able to give some constructive input?

It means they have approved or rejected only the sponsorship application. If they approved it, the file will get transferred to the Visa Office and the permanent residency application part will begin.

Fantastic, thanks for the swift response. I suspected it might have been that but they don't give you much info about it, leaving a wide gap for us to try and navigate.

Indeed - it's only for the sponsorship part, and you don't need to worry much - most sponsors are approved, and you wouldn't have been denied without them asking for more documents if needed - so unless you don't qualify to sponsor your husband (because of criminal record, not being part of the family class etc.), the first part has most likely been approved. Check the spam folder, there might be an email from CIC there, if not it will come as a letter.

Which office did you choose for the second part? if you chose London (based on your husband's nationality), feel free to join the UK thread, and in my signature you can see the timeline of applicants going through London.
Good luck,

Hello,

I'm new to this forum (my first post) and after reviewing the various discussions, this one seemed most appropriate. Sometime within the past 2-3 days, CIC's website changed my status from In Process to Decision Made. My husband is Canadian and I'm American. We were married and lived together in the US for years however in 2012 we decided to move to Canada. Currently we live in the Pacific Northwest (he in BC, me in WA State). For work purposes, we applied for PR from outside the country. Our timeline is as follows:

We received your application for permanent residence on May 15, 2013.
We started processing your application on November 5, 2013.
Medical results have been received.
A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

My question is what happens now and in approximately what time frame? I should add that I had my medical back in late January 2013 so it will expire in approximately 2 weeks.

Any information from the experts is most gratefully appreciated!

Pls Help.....

Did anyone have a problem like this, i need your advices...

I received a ltter from Visa Office Manila this morning and it says:

This refers to your application for permanent residencein Canada under the Provincial Nominee Program Category.

We note your affidavit dtd March 13, 2012 indicating that your wife conjugal home with your son 10 yrs ago due to irrecincilable differences and that you have not been talking to each other since she left.
The immigration and refugee Protection Act of Canada requires all famiy members, whether accpimpanying or not to be examined and meet statutory requirements during the processing of an application, unless a properly delegated officer has determined that they were not required by the Act or the former act, as applicable, to be examined. You must declare all your dependents and they must comply with the required medical and other statutory requirements.

Anyone who experience this. Pls help.. Thanks.. By the way what do you mean or who is this Properly Delegated Officer they were talking about.. Thanks...

They are essentially telling you that you must contact your ex, and get your son medically looked at even if he is not accompanying you to Canada. They are trying to save you from yourself. If something happens to his mother/family there in the Phillipines and you are his only option, and you don't put him in this application now as an unaccompanying minor you will NEVER, read this clearly, NEVER be able to sponsor your son to come live with you in Canada.

Thanks. But is it a ground for refusal of my application? I already decided that petitoning my wife and my son is not my priority.
My question is, can i still be granted a visa for this non- compliance coz the truth is have no way to contact my wife and my son, i did my best, but i failed...

They will drag your application out for quite a long time before they decide whether or not to proceed with it. They are really very very reluctant to continue with your application because of your young son.

Have you tried a few attempts to find them? Asking her family members where she is located and such? I think you don't understand the severity of what happens if you manage to continue and land without 'declaring' your son. They don't care one iota about your wife, only your son. It really would be in YOUR best interest to exhaust all avenues of locating him, which CIC will likely have you do anyway, and then if you still can not locate him, they will likely proceed with your application, but with the stipulation that if your son should show up at any point after you land you will NEVER be able to bring him to Canada.

This is your application and your family, so how you choose to proceed with it is up to you, but as a parent myself, I don't see how anyone can just walk away from their child without looking back.
