My ecas was updated yesterday to the following:

We received your application for permanent residence on November 16, 2010.

We started processing your application on December 29, 2010.

Medical results have been received.

A decision has been made and you will be contacted.

We sent you a letter on October 6, 2011 to xxxxxxxxxxx about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us. If we have sent the letter to the wrong address, please contact us.

From what I understand, this is both 1st and 2nd stage approval.

I have not yet submitted a police check for my home country as the application guide specified not to submit one with the application, and they may be requested at a later stage. My question is: If they have made a decision without the police check, could this be a bad sign? i.e. a refusal?

Did you have an interview?

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth ;D

You just have to stay positive & hope for the best....
Or have you ordered Caipnote? if not you mean't try it just be sure
what really happened.

I haven't ordered any notes yet. The letter they sent out will be here in a couple of days anyway.

I did call CIC a while back and asked if they'd need a new police certificate, as I had one when I first entered Canada on a work permit, and haven't been anywhere since then. The agent said she didn't know, maybe they would just take the old one, but would request a new one if needed. So that also is a possibility that they just used my original clean police check...

I'm thinking it's good news, but crossing my fingers for you until you know for sure, because all I can do is speculate.

Thank you! Me too! Why did you ask about an interview? Does that indicate something?

because I have heard that if they doubt your relationship is genuine they will call for an interview to get more info before they'd just deny your app. So if you got a decision without an interview, I think that is a good sign that it is a positive result. Good luck!

Thank you! Funny you should say that, someone else in another thread just said the same thing. That they don't typically refuse inland apps without an interview to give you the chance to clarify any issues/questions.

Hi. Yes this is a common-law partner application. I did the medical before I sent the application (as close as possible because it's only valid a year).
