Decision Made Question - What now - spousal sponsorship

I was wondering if anyone knows if this means I was approved for permanent residence or most likely approved. Here are a few points of interest.

1. Our application was straight forward. We've lived together in the usa for years together and our package was very complete and provided more than enough info anyone could possibly need.

2. Medicals - These were sent up front and the doctor had told me they would call me if i had any medical issues. They never contacted me.

3. We were never contacted for any additional information or received any sort of communication requesting any type or action.

4. I have absolutely no criminal record and sent my fbi paperwork with the application

5. They only started processing the application at the beginning of this month

Questions:

1. Is it possible we will still be called for an interview? Does that happen after decision is made generally?

2. If all is clear, what happens next?

Thanks for the help. I'm just wondering if we should begin to celebrate or if something negative may still happen.

1. while an interview can be called at anytime, if you have DM, more than likely you don't need to worry about that.

2. DM generally means you are approved and the COPR is in the mail. The applicant should keep an eye out in their mailbox for a brown envelope from cic. Once the COPR is received, the applicant can go to the border (or fly to canada) and land as a pr. If the applicant has stuff to bring with them (or will later on), they need to fill out the B4 form (recently renumbered) to declare items for tax exemption. Landing is generally quick. The officer asks the questions on the COPR, both people initial and sign, they stamp the form and you're sent on your way. CBSA will fill out the application for the PR card and send it in. It will take some time to get the physical card.

The next step after landing is usually getting a SIN# (kiosks are available at some airports if you are flying in and landing at an airport - otherwise you will have to go to a service canada office), healthcare, driver's license, etc. I also recommend connecting with a settlement agency in your area. They can be valuable resources for job searching, housing, family needs.

The COPR and Passport generally can be used for any services a PR card is required for. In ontario, I did not have to use my pr card for any of the services mentioned above.

Congrats!

While it is most likely a positive sign that you have received dm always wait for official word. I have seen cases of DM meaning refusal. Sorry to slow down your celebration.

based on the information shared above, the DM is most likely positive. a negative DM doesn't happen unless there was an interview or additional document requests are ignored. considering this person has a quick timeline, it is doubtful they missed any requests.

If the application is outland and the landing visa is not waived, the OP will first receive an email or letter from CIC explaining that the application is in its final stages, and they should send their passport and two photos to CIC. Once CIC receives the passport, they will provide a one-time landing visa in the passport and mail it along with the CoPR to the OP.

I received this exact email but im in the usa. So since im in the usa and the landing visa is waived what do i need to do to finalize? Here is the email text

Step 1. Update application (doesnt need updated. Not divorced ect.

Step 2. Determine if you need to submit your passport ( I dont im American

Step 3. Prepare your documents (send photos and passport) i assume i do neither of these since i dont submit my passport

Step 4. Submit the documents

So how do get the copr? Is this just an automated email meaning it is on the way?

You're American. You should have been posting on the US applicants thread. You're fine! Congrats!!! Expect your COPR in 1-2 weeks (and pray to gods or spaghetti monsters that Canada Post doesn't strike in that time!).

All you have to do is, wait a bit more, and prepare to move.

Fantastic. Thanks Aquakitty. I kind of thought was the situation. My processing from receipt to acceptance only took two months. I thought it would be 10 at least

Yea, quite a few US citizens have been getting through that fast.

If the letter asks you to submit photos, you will need to do that. You don't need to send your passport though. Some applicants have been asked to send copies of their passport, so just follow the directions in the letter.
