Decision Made. Passport Request OVER 6 MONTHS AGO still no visa !!!!

Has anyone experienced this? Passport Request was December 2009! They received the passport and ECAS changed to Decision Made 1st week of January 2010. We also redid our medicals at that time so we wouldn't face "delays". Now it is SIX MONTHS LATER and still no return of the passport. We have called them (complete confusion, said they would call back, never did) we have contacted our MP who got an email back saying they "anticipate it will be finalized soon".. still waiting. Is there ANYTHING ELSE we can do? Our hearts are breaking and our lives are in complete turmoil ....

I'd be calling, sending emails and bugging my MP.

I checked your last posts and saw you are processing in Nairobi. I don't know what to say...the fact that you had a PPR only 2 months after arriving at Nairobi is suspect in itself!

There was a post on here sometime ago with the contact details for the head of immigration in Nairobi. Perhaps try to contact him directly?

You are still well within the minimum processing times for Nairobi, but they shouldn't have your passport this long!

Get yourself a calling plan for Africa if you don't have one already. Call this woman everyday until you get her live on the phone, don't bother leaving messages. Keep in mind the time difference either 7 or 8 hours depending on time of year. Play the emotional card. Be tough but polite. Criticize the embassy not her personally. You're a Canadian sponsor who pays taxes and again ,you paid big fees to get the file processed so keep the pressure on her. If she gets replaced the phone # should still be goof for her replacement.

After I spoke to her my file magically progressed, my wife had her papers a month later...total processing time 13 months. She arrived on December 23, 2009.

It's strange, but what is really strange is that they asked for his passport 3 days after his application arrived at the visa office in Nairobi. There is no way that this passport request was for giving him a PR visa. Most likely there was something that the visa officer was suspicious about, and wanted the passport to verify something. They made the decision in January - 2 months after getting the application. This would be fast even for a visa office in a Western country. It looks to me like they rejected the application for something very basic - that is, they didn't even look at the genuiness of the relationship.

Still, you should have the passport and letter by now. Phone and send emails to the visa office until you get it, and continue asking your MP about it.

Just wanted to update everyone. The original poster sent me a private message to say that they called the number I provided above (thanks Pierre in Montreal!) and their passport with visa was put in the mail back to them the same day!!

The OP had an immigration lawyer and his MP on it, who could do nothing. One phone call to Trudy and it was done.

Just goes to show that sometimes we have to take matters into our own hands.
