Hi,

Hoping for some answers here as i am getting worried

My common law g'friend of 8 years is sponsering me under the spousal class. we sent the application off early jan and she was approved to sponser me about 1 month later

they started processing my portion of the application on 16th feb this year. now my status on ecas reads:

Decision has been made on your application
medical results received
we will contact you concerning this decision.

it has been like this for at least 3 weeks now, and possibly up to 6 as I didn't check it for about 3 weeks prior

my understanding now is that they will send me a passport request or letter of rejection but am worried as i have received nothing. is it normal to wait so long after a decision has been made?

I have seen posts on other forums that people have already had passport requests before ecas updated.

We are both in the UK at the moment and are due to fly in 8 weeks to Canada. I heard that in this class the decision is made in Canada and then sent to the UK purely for the background checks. I have never been in trouble with the law and presumably meds are fine as I did them 5 months ago

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there,

Have you checked your email? My husband got his passport request by email (no letter at all from London) and I think sometimes it gets put in the spam folder, so worth checking.

The drop off/pick up service in London is very good if you can get to London with relative ease. We went from Manchester and you just queue up, drop it off and two weeks later: queue up and collect it.

Good luck - hopefully someone will be along shortly to help about contacting the High Commission if you need to.

In my case, I'm from the Bahamas, which means Jamaica is responsible for the visas, I actually received a phone call informing me that my PR application was approved and how to send my PP via fedex/dhl. And I've also known of other persons who received emails requesting to send their PP as well as phone calls.

You should try sending your visa office an email/fax inquiring about it.

thanks for getting back so quickly guys, the visa office is London. I have been stringently checking emails and junk mail but haven't come across anything yet!! I was thinking about emailing them but was under the impression they get mighty p****d off if you do that before the natural course of time on how long you're application is supposed to take has ellapsed

thanks again.

Email them. Do a case specific enquiry and advise them of what you see on ECAS but have not received a passport request. The worst thing they will do is ignore you. It's not going to change their decision, whatever it is.

Yeah - if you've been checking your emails and not got anything I would email them and check. We got the PPR via email and e-cas still said 'in process' (it said this even after we picked up the passport). Like the others said, the worst they will do is ignore you (but I doubt that).

Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

this is my worry, it says decision made but still no passport request......does this mean i won't get one because the decision isn't positive????

other posters on forums are saying though that the way my ECAS reads at the moment is a positive thing and that all we now need to do is wait for the PPR, i will email them now by the way and let you know the hopefully good news!!!

I agree, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but best just to check. I would contact the CHC in London, though - they're probably the best ones to ask.

And although I think everyone's experience with London has been different, we didn't receive anything at all by mail from them. All of their correspondance with us was via email. Again, I doubt this is cause for concern, I have read other stories where something got mixed up/delayed for whatever reason. They are usually fast but not always accurate - lol!

Definitely keep us posted! :)
