I logged into the CIC website on the 10th of Jan to find the status has changed to 'Decision Made', I clicked the blue link to find it says they have sent a letter regarding the decision of my application. Is this good or bad news?

Also I still havent received it? Any idea how long it takes to deliver?

Hey!

do you have decision made for the sponsor part, or for the "application for PR" part? when did you apply?

the "letter sent" message is a "normal" thing. where do you live? If it's for the sponsor part, it could be that they sent you an email ( even if it says letter), and it's in your spam folder. Or a physical letter but it takes a while to get to you.
If it's for the PR part, then it's a physical letter ( not an email), and depending on your case, it can be good or bad!

If you have a straight forward case, and have already had the sponsorship approval, then most likely it is a positive news, if you have not been asked for anything specific.

If you give a little more details about your application ( when did you apply, which VO etc), then we can try and help!
Good luck,
Sweden

You have not received stage 1 sponsor approval as of yet, correct? Based on your past posts, I'm assuming that.

This is your (likely) approval for your common-law partner to sponsor you. Your file will then be sent to the appropriate visa office to be processed.

The sponsor stage 1 is almost always approved unless the sponsor has a criminal record of abuse, has been on welfare/bankruptcy, etc. Also, since your sponsor lives outside of Canada, she had to have shown that she planned to return. If all this is ok - then it's likely an approval. But no one can say fore sure til you get your letter in the mail. Also, check your email as sometimes they are emailed out.

You should get the letter within 2 weeks.

Good luck.

Hey Guys

thanks for the replies...

Im in the UK and The only thing we have received is an email saying that our application has been sent to London. We sent the application at the beginning of november. There have been no emails (including Junk) or letters since they contacted us 3 weeks ago.

Well then the "letter has been sent' refers to the email you received about sponsorship approval. They only send a letter or an email, not both. So if you got an email on the 10th of January, then it's the same. now - you're in stage 2, and you wait to hear from London! :)

there is a London thread if you want to join, and if you look at the spreadsheet in my signature, it will give you an idea of where they are at for the moment. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/thread-for-outland-london-uk-applications-t49436.7485.html

So the email they sent saying that I am eligible for a sponsorship visa is the 'Letter' they sent?

yep! on ecas they refer to "letter" but for the stage 1 (sponsorship approval) it can be either a letter or an email ( I believe it says at the end of the eligibility email that you won't receive a letter with the same information), but only one of the 2 is sent.
For stage 2, for the final decision ( COPR), it's a physical letter that is sent with normal post.
