I have a question and I am curious about it.
I see lot of people from few countries got their FSW PR within 2-3 months from the date of AOR.
Are the applicants and applications given importance based on nationality and country of residence? Shouldn't the process be same for everyone? Am i missing something here?
or
Is it that the info on those forums is wrong?
I was going to ask same question. My cousin in Canada just told me his step brother got his PR approved in just 3 months from Nigeria FSW O. AOR is September 2020 and he claimed his received COPR in December 2020.. I still think he’s not telling the truth but he’s standing by his truth so that leaves me confused af. lol. It’s ridiculous

I have many friends (all Nigerians) too that submitted their applications between Aug and Sept 2020 and got COPR within the same year. I think a big factor would depend on the visa office your application arrives in (and I think the visa office you get would depend also on the country you’re applying from) and the workload at the same office. I stand to be corrected. Before I submitted my application in December 2020, I prayed mine would land in Accra:(o_O but I guess that prayer wasn’t answered as my application arrived Montreal :(

Like I said, I stand to be corrected.

@legalfalcon please I'd appreciate your assistance here: I have an open work permit with existing job contract and TRV but travelled out of Canada for a brief visit which was eventually delayed due to family reasons. I applied to renew my TRV before it expired but used my Canada address. Do I need to inform IRCC now that I will collect the TRV in another country or I need to wait until when/if it's approved? Does this also require me to change my address to CEC Outland? I don't mind any of these. I just need to know the right step to take. Thanks
If you are out of Canada only for a short while, you do not have to change your address for your PR application.

As regards your TRV, you should send a webform and inform IRCC that you would like to submit your passport for visa in the country you are in currently.

@legalfalcon Thank you very much. But should I mail them now or wait till the TRV is issued? Thanks again

Thanks. This is a way better explanation and very logical too. I think you’re are right.

And oh uh. Montreal?? I heard they’re working with snail speed. all the best

My cousin’s explanation was that the reason ours is taking longer is due to covid-19 setback, which sounds silly to me because we all applied in the middle of a pandemic.

Same, no GU. Application remains untouched since transferred from CIO to HKVO. PNP-EE-O.
My next note shall be release next Thur and not sure if any updates this time.
Hkvo could be busy with processing the open work permits and us FSWO just aren’t their priority

  • The background verifications are currently valid.
  • The security background verification has not been initiated.
  • The criminal background verification is currently valid.
Can someone confirm what does "currently valid" mean here for background verification and criminal background?
And does background verifications here refer to eligibility?

i know right? I read Montreal is the worst, even prior to covid.

It really does not make sense. What about those that aren’t affected by travel restrictions (applying from within Canada, me inclusive)? There’s no sensible reason for the crazy wait times :(

All we can do now is stay positive and optimistic :)

All the best as well ;)

Any Idea how long it is taking to get a web form response these days. I submitted a web form to get an extension to submit the RCMP finger print. IRCC gave me only 30 days to submit that and now i have just 2 days left to submit that and as per update from RCMP, they mailed my reports on April 2nd. Now everything on Canada Post. But just for worst case if I miss by few days i wanted to get an extension for document submission date. I heard usually they give 60 days but in my case it was 30 days given.

Not sure what to do next as neither Canada post has delivered that yet nor the web form response has come for extension. Can any one suggest.
