It sure is!
I had initially applied on May 5th, but I when I provided my lease as a proof of address, it wasn't accepted by Service Canada as proof of address YET. I applied again on the 11th with the same info and got my SIN on May 20th.
Congratulations! Can we use Open work permit as proof of address? and any other alternatives?

Hello peeps, Just mailed my wife's Spousal application with OWP on 2nd December, file will be delivered in Mississauga by Thursday 5th December, Lets connect in this thread if you have sent your application in December to track our progress. Wife is already here in Canada as visitor, Landed on 20th November 2019.
Hello want to ask did your wife take a medical exam for open work permit

As per the "Sponsorship Application timeline 2019" google doc sheet, no one seems to have received their OWP approved since May 13th. There is only one person who updated that their application was approved on May 18th. It's a frustrating wait. My wife's spouse and OWP application was received on Dec 13th 2019.

Same here @straightdrive. These guys seem to have gone in hibernation or holiday and don't seem to bother to get back to work. My wifes OWP was received on 12th Dec 2019 and I have heard no word from them to date.

They list different examples of what you can use as proof of address such as insurance papers, bills....etc.
You can always call them as well to verify what is accepted and what isn't. As for the OWP, you will have to submit that as the official document allowing you to work in Canada. You can't use the same document to satisfy more than one requirement.
