Nope.
Many times the names are similar/match with person having some history.
So this request is more from an identification and security check perspective and not to classify based on where an applicant comes from.
the importance of having unique names! blame the parents!

I never understood the logic behind the FP request only for certain people and why not make it a mandatory requirement for all the citizenship applicant.
It could save applicants (getting this request) from anxiety and confusion. But nope, IRCC has to do things differently ;)!

Hello everyone,
I also applied in Dec 2019. Good thing over here people are getting fp requests. I have a query if anyone can confirm! Does every citizenship applicant gets fp request? I applied with my 2 kids who are under 10. Is it a possibility that someone doesn’t get a fp request at all?
Thanks

Not everyone gets FP request. It depends on your case and if case officer wants your FP to do further checks.

Thanks a lot Rafzy

When you get a fingerprints request, you get it by email, right but do you also see it when you log into your account on cic?
I haven’t received anything, just checking

The ECAS will show a line that says something like "we sent you correspondence...",

Just got my application status switched to "in process". CIC has truly awakened. It's been exactly 8 months since I sent my paperwork in.
