My wife is a December applicant and her PR card expires in October. She can apply for renewal now but I'm hoping that she will become a citizen by then. Anyone else in a similar situation and are you going to renew your PR card? She has a US passport and NEXUS membership so a PR card is not essential to board a commercial carrier to get back to Canada, but it think it is still important and avoids hassle to have a non-expired PR card. thoughts?

The processing time for a PR card renewal is about 80 days, so less than three months, so you could apply in July and still have the new card before the current one expires.

By July we'll have another 6 months of data on how long it takes for people who are under the same office to take their oath, so you know if it's worth doing the paperwork for the PR card renewal (I expect it won't be, but there's no risk in waiting a few more months).

My application status changed to In Process. Please update the spreadsheet. Thank you.
