Hi xCami,

I discovered there's two places you can check the status of your application:
1) eCAS - https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do?app=
2) myCIC - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/e-services/account.asp

In eCAS, there is much less information asked than in myCIC when you are asked a bunch of (largely irrelevant) questions to look up your application to link. This is what worked for me to link my account to MyCIC (GCKey) thanks to other forum posters:

1. Logged in with GC Key account.
2. Permanent Residence > Family Class (Spouses)
2. Application Number and Family Name - Copy/pasted application number from email (including the F) and entered PA's last name.
3. City of Birth - I entered 1 space (hit spacebar once)
4. Country of Birth - Selected PA's country of birth
5. Passport Info - Did not enter any passport info
6. Other Application Info - Filled out the other application info as per our application and put '2' as the number of members in the application. I am sponsoring my husband, no dependents.

I didn't have an application number, you're right, so I think I used birthday or last name. It should work though with instructions above because when you think about it, eCAS (ie. option #1) asks really only these questions (ie. Family Name, DOB, Country of Birth, Application).

From my research on the forum, it also appears that the information can differ between the two for whatever reason or use slightly different wording. Obviously, I'll be checking both obsessively........... :-X

Can I ask you how you were able to link your application online? Did you enter your spouses info such as name/birthplace since you wouldn't have a file number yet? I tried entering the number from the email I got but it says its invalid.

I had the same trouble like you initially. I tried linking my account even before we have yet to received an App number. On 5 January, the day we got AOR1, I tried again using both UCI, App number and the choices in the drop-down menu of App no./Family Name, etc. I still kept being rejected until I got the message to try again after 24 hours. Yep, quite frustrating. However, just few minutes passed and I tried again (it said to wait 24 hours, right?). For some reason (program glitch, maybe?), all the boxes to fill in were up so I continued At this time, I tried again the < Family Name / Given Name / Birthday > ----- Voila, it worked!

I just thought that maybe the reason why, even though I tried all kinds of tricks and it was still not successful, I noticed though that when we received the AOR1, my name showing does not include my Middle Name. What I have been doing initially was I keep on adding my Middle Name as part of the Given Name because that's how I filled my application forms. But upon noticing how CIC uses my name, I followed it on my last try of linking the app to MyCIC, to which on the Given Name, I did not include anymore my Middle Name. In my country, Middle Name is in fact a Maiden Name. When filling CIC's form and asking for name as exactly shown on the passport, I was at first confused because there is no mention of Middle Name. I later realized that Canada takes Middle Name as part of Given Name so that's what I did.

Nweis, don't lose hope. You will still get your Apps linked to MyCIC. Yes, it's the same below steps that I followed:

1. Logged in with GC Key account.

If you provided your email address on the form, you should be getting one or be notified through email. You might want to also check your spam folder.

I was also expecting to receive it by email, but I read some people still received it by mail even though they provided their email... Been checking my junks and spams almost every hour lol

So happy to see all the good news here, people getting AOR1. I keep watching the spreadsheet so hopefully everyone is updating

I think mine might take a little longer. We filled out all the forms by hand. Originally I didn't understand the barcode stuff and printed off the papers to bring with me for my husband to fill out and sign. Then it was too late to fill out the papers, validate and use barcode since we had already filled it out by hand and signed.

Hopefully it won't cause too much trouble.

The waiting is just crazy haha. I check my email like 50 times a day. At least here I know I'm not alone.

I tried yesterday to see if I could link the app in the gckey account but no luck. I guess there's too many unknowns right now before I get confirmation.

Thank you for your reply! Nothing worked, and it kept saying my application number was not valid. I created a new account under my spouses name (the principal applicant) and followed those instructions using family name/given name/birthday and it worked! Yay! Now I can obsessively check our status online haha.

It shows that nothing has been reviewed yet. I was missing a document but it was just received by them yesterday. Hopefully they will start looking at my application soon!

I was able to link with myCIC following those instructions, thank you! I'm so happy I can check for status updates online now
