Today I landed, got my SIN # and applied for OHIP. It was a busy day but it feels so good to have it all out of the way!!!

We landed at the queenston lewiston bridge at Ontario/New York. The lines to cross the border were very short but it took quite some time to cross because they were searching every inch of everyone's car because of the two inmates who recently escaped from the maximum security prison in new york (close to the border).

Anyway once it was our turn we told the CBSA officer we were there to land as a permanent resident of canada. He looked at our passport and told the officer that was there directing traffic that we were there to "flagpole". They sent us to park in front of a building where another officer came out and gave us a piece of paper that said we were denied entry into the USA (because we didn't want to drive all the way into New York and come back).

We then pulled a u-turn and drove back through the Canadian side. We told the Canadian CBSA officer we were there to land and gave him the refusal paper from the USA side. We were then directed to park and go into the office and provide the immigration officer all of our paperwork. There were a handful of people in front of us, but in total in took 30 minutes including waiting. We handed in our documents and then were asked to sit down. We were then called back up, confirmed all the info on the COPR was correct, confirmed that he had never been convicted of a crime and had no other family members/dependants landing at a different time and then signed the COPR and that was it. The officer congratulated us and we were on our way. Driving back into Canada we had to pay a fee of $4.25.

Afterwards we went to Service Canada and he got his SIN number which didn't take more then 15 minutes in total including waiting and then headed over to Service Ontario and applied for OHIP. We were told his OHIP card will be valid and issued in 90 days from today.

All in all it was a lot of driving but so happy it is all over!

Best of luck to anyone who is still waiting!!!
Congratulation RYIT. I have good news, got my COPR mailed to my address in Paris, currently in Canada s don't know when the decision got made. Very happy, my sister will mail it to me here in Canada so I can go to the US and land on my way back in. So so happy and relieved.

Hello everyone,

I have decision made on the ecas file. My husband gave in passport to the visa office. In Sri Lanka, it is a private company that does visa applications so my husband submitted the passport and the company give to VFS. High commision has transferred his passport back to the VFS private company to issue visa. I just received an email. However, I haven't received any email or letter regarding the final decision.

What is going on? Does anyone know?

The private company will more than likely receive your COPR, and contact you once they do. They are listed as your representative so I believe all correspondence will go to them, including COPR.

We used a rep, and the COPR was sent to the rep directly. The rep then mailed our COPR after our final payment.

Hi Guys and RYIT,

Do I just put myself on Appendix A since I am single? or Do I also need to print copies as well for my parents and sibling?

· Fully Completed Appendix A (attached) for you and each of your family members, whether accompanying you to Canada or not. Passport details are not required for any family member who is not accompanying you to Canada. (Each person should complete his/her own form.)

Thanks

I was not sure of the answer so I did some research for you. In the sponsorship of adopted children and other relatives guide, under information for the principal applicant it says " Your family members include your spouse or common-law partner, your dependent children and any children that are their dependent children" Which means it is the exact same as spousal sponsorship and they do not want your parents or siblings to fill anything out. Because you are single with no children they only want your information.

Hi, hoping I can get some help please...

Our file has been with CPC-M for almost 6 months which it currently is "in progress" (see below status)....

I was replying to an e-mail that CPC-M had sent me and received a reply advised that the file is now being processed by Ottawa??

Does this mean that with the current processing times for Ottawa, that it will take another 16 months? I see that Dec Applicants some are already receiving the PR?

I'm a little confused so hoping someone can please clarify for me please.

Our application was submitted/received Dec 2014 began being processed May 2015.

Appreciate the help,

Thanks

I am pretty sure when you received your SA or AOR2 letter it would have said something along the lines that your file was being kept for processing in Mississauga but at any time if they required additional information/assistance it could be transferred to another office. Files that are originally sent to Ottawa are typically being processed in 7-8 months. Because your file is just being transferred now to Ottawa it would wait in line like all other new files transferred there. I think it would be best to repost this question in the Ottawa thread to get responses from other people who are experiencing the same scenario as you. Honestly I rarely ever see applications that involve children being kept for processing in Mississauga. Which is probably the reason they decided to transfer the application to Ottawa once the children were brought into the application.

Below is the link to the Ottawa thread:

Hi, - thanks for the reply. I had thought about posting in the Ottawa thread but wasn't sure if I should post in the December 2014 thread lol!!... I didn't want to unnecessarily double up.

I appreciate the reply.
I'll post in the ottawa thread - thanks for that link too...
