I think this is the all time record ! I mean, I have seen 28 days, but 13 days ??? ! Good news. I have a hunch that some Dec applicants will take their oath before May. who's taking the bets ? :D

Wish I will be the first one :P.. but the problem is i have a more than a month travel from april 10 to may 19 hopefully the test invite doesn't fall between those dates :'(
but i wont tell them yet my travel plan till a received the test invite ;D otherwise if i'll tell them now they might send me the test invite next year loll.

My application is in process right now and guess what, I have received my election registration letter. Did it happen to someone else too?
I will fill this form once I become a citizen and till that time, it will stay at my desk :) :D

Did you check the box that asked if you wanted to be registered in election when you filled out your application ? Is that why ?

If YES, then your citizenship might have been (pre)approved already. You'll probably receive a joint test+oath invite in the coming days/weeks... Sorry to break the news to you this way lol :D :D

Please do ! :D ;D
It reads in Section 9-B that your name and address, etc. will be given to Election Canada AFTER you obtain your citizenship ! This Coolguysam might have just had his citizenship approved ! :D I am so excited to see how things go with thecoolguysam in the coming days/weeks.

Did you fill your taxes? there is a section there you can let them use your up to date information for federal election. and as voting is based on honorary system, they don't check your citizenship status. Technically you should not be registered until you are citizen and if they do, you should let themknow.

But as long as you don't vote until you are Canadian, don't worry much

From the guide, Section 9B:

"...If you check the Yes box, CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada)
will give your name, address, gender and date of birth to Elections
Canada to be added to the Register, but only after your Canadian
citizenship has been granted. If you check the No box, CIC
(Citizenship and Immigration Canada) will not give your information to
Elections Canada. "

Nice could be no more Test invite just Oath taking invite right away lol.

That is the part that I don't understand. Seriously I have been thinking about this and I can't find a clear answer lol.
But I have seen many instances where they send a joint test+oath invite in one letter. Given that most people pass the test (my guess is at least 98% of people pass it), they could have just approved his application and send his info to Elections Canada, knowing that test+oath will just be pure formality for him. But then again...Why hasn't his file been transferred yet first ? Aren't test, approval, oath the job of the local office ??
Could it be, as someone suggested, that the coolguysam authorized the Revenue agency (tax filling) to send his name to Elections Canada ? Personally I can't remember seeing such a thing while filing my taxes (maybe it's just me forgetting). And then again, thecoolguysam says that he hasn't filed his 2014 taxes. Or could it because his authorized that in the previous year tax filing ? Which would beg the question, why is it only now that CRA sends his info ? Is it now because it is elections year ? This is a real twist ! I really want to see how it unfolds. If I keep trying to figure out an explanation, I might have headaches lol :D :D

I have checked my 2013, 2012, 2011 income tax return too and I checked marked "No" that I am not a Canadian citizen.
I have also left the option: "As a Canadian citizen, do you authorize the Canada Revenue Agency to give your name......" unchecked on both Yes and No because I was not a citizen that time.

I checked elections canada website and found the following info:

Where did you get my information?

We sent notices to people who consented to the transfer of their information to Elections Canada on their federal income tax return and to potential electors identified from provincial and territorial driver's licence files.

I think they got my info from my drivers license file
