Hello!
I am wondering what the processing times are looking right now if i were to apply in the next couple of months or so.. I'm a canadian citizen by birth and i am looking to sponsor my girlfriend who is in Peru. I know We will require an ARC since she is a failed refugee claimant, however I'm very positive that we can prove how genuine our relationship is so that helps a lot. I plan on travelling to her country to marry and then coming back due to work and studies and starting the outland application with the Mississauga Office

My main concern is the length of the process we've spent half a year out of our year relationship apart and it is extremely hard for us both to be apart. I guess i'll add that we're young, myself 18 and her 19 although i cant imagine why this would bring any negative effects to the application.

Any info would be appreciated!

Hi, the average processing time for the Sponsorship Approval (first stage) is currently at 52 days. This estimate is more accurate than the second stage's processing time estimate, after being transferred to Lima, 80% of applications are being processed in less than 12 months, it could take less than 12 months if you submit enough proof. Please, check the Lima/Peru thread to compare their timelines.
Pertaining to your age, I was 19 when I submitted the application and that wasn't an issue, there's a lot of young applicants out there but every case is different!

Good luck.

QUESTION - We have been blessed with birth of our second child last week as well, and we plan to send the copy of birth certificate as soon as we get it(along with PPR request response). For our first child we had applied for 'Canadian Citizenship Certificate' which took about 6 months to come. Now I am wondering, here my COPR is hopefully only a few weeks away, but will we have to again wait 6 months to receive Canadian certificate for our second child?
Since CPC, in email above mentions about new children being added to your application before case being finalized, will they handle our new child's citizenship certificate as well, or we will still have to apply separately for it?

Thank you in advance...
Congrats. I think you need to inform CIC of the birth of your new baby. He or she will then be added to the COPR. I am not sure how long it takes to get a Canadian Citizenship Certificate but 6 months is too long. I assume it shouldn't take more than 2 months according to a friend of mine who applied for one last year.

So I just got my GCMS notes. There was really nothing in there that said anything. It was generated May 6th (day after I ordered them). It does say the file is in Ottawa and there is a note that the updated FBI check was received in March. I also noticed hubby's medical expiration date was extended by a month and the medicals were passed

For eligibility, security, and criminality it all said not started. But the dates associated with all those sections were in January when the application was received by Ottawa. So I don't know if that means no one has looked at it since then or if it just hasn't been updated. I did order the second round of notes on Monday to see if anything has happened the past month.

The "updated date" on the first page is January 21st.

thanks so much for the reply! that's not bad at all, hopefully we are in the 80% of applications. what could we include that would be considered enough proof? I was unaware the was a Lima/Peru thread but thank you I will look into it.
that helps, I would think it's no issue but thats very true every case is different.

Hey, no problem. I just looked but couldn't find an active "Lima thread", you can still use the search feature to find other people who applied through Peru. The average processing time for Brazilian applicants on CIC's website's 11 months but I was approved in less than 5 months; it should take less than 12 months when your application is straight-forward and you can counter any red flags that you might have. In your case, it's the fact that she was asked to leave Canada and then was refused the Study Permit, be honest about the situation on your application, they might think she's marrying you for Immigration, so send as much proof as you can in order to show that your relationship is genuine. Submit all the required documents, sign all the forms, make sure that all the forms are updated.
I should say that your family's approval is important as well, it'd help if you could get a letter from your parents, relatives, close friends, etc. who approve of your relationship. It'd be even better if they could attend the wedding.
Submit pictures, letters you have sent each other, chat logs, e-mails, plane tickets, etc.
Anyway, there are a lot of threads on the forum with helpful tips on how to organize your application, I'd share the link but I'm on my phone. The forum is very helpful overall, the senior members know a lot!

That's a bummer MLB. It seems no one has touched your file since January. I wonder what they have been doing since then. Smh.
