Hi Jen!!

Here's a timeline to look at:

Application to sponsor my US wife and 15 year old step-daughter to Canada, was received Dec 31/2012.
Approved to sponsor in February 2013, medicals received....waiting..
A signed form was requested in May, and was in their hands within a week.
Immigration was on strike from about June until mid October 2013 ,limited staff to work on files.
Copies of passports requested in July and a November 15/13 update of "In process" on file.

So, is 2 days past a year now, and waiting to hear back on a simplified application process.

Well, that strike really caused a major bump in the road. I do hope you'd receive their visas soon.

I'm sorry to hear that it is taking so long, rice-racer. Is your office Ottawa? Maybe since you are sponsoring your step-daughter as well they have to ensure the legitimacy of the relationship and that she has permission to move to Canada from her biological father? I imagine they look into something like that closely as you hear all sorts of horror stories. Of course, I am by no means suggesting you are one of them! :) Is your timeline the norm with other December 2012 applicants?

I really hope you get positive news soon as I'm sponsoring my American husband and really hope he's ringing in next new year living with me!

Thanks people, for your positive input!
MapleLeafBride, there is no issue with the daughter, as there was a request last May, for a signed declaration from the real father of the girl. He is nothing more then totally supportive of her move, and a notarized signed form was forwarded to them, then copies of passports was asked for both about a month or two later. It seems all needed documentation was fulfilled, it's just the heal dragging during the strike that stalled things for several months following their last request of passports.
They had everything in their hands, and it took roughly 3-4 months of patient waiting to get an update on their site saying Application in process, Nov 15/13.
So, I'm still not sure how close things really are, since the strike started adding on a couple extra months to finalize, once they went back in October. Instead of about 12-13 months, it updated applications to almost 15, so who knows where they are.
Everything was sent to Mississauga Ont, then once approved, forwarded to Ottawa pilot, and that's where it sits.
I will update you when I hear anything, just so you all have a timeline to follow maybe as a guide/idea of time frames.
It all seems like a fast, smooth process, then the real wait begins, so hang onto your excitement.

Hi Rice-Racer, as your app was forwarded to Ottawa that is an Inland application correct? the copy of the passports and form signed are documents you missed to add to the application at the beggining? Good luck!

I took a look at the December 2012 spreadsheet and it seems some other people who went through Ottawa landed by August 2013. It's really a shame yours fell into the time frame it took to process 80% of the applications. Good luck in the new year!

Good morning everyone :)

On this Friday morning of the new year hoping that CPP-M gets moving and issues more AOR's and SA's!

I'll be checking the CIC website today to see what date they claim to be working on :)
Have a good day all :)

I received my AOR this morning via email. My mind is at ease knowing that they haven't lost my application.
