If your wife is not pregnant yet but is considering getting pregnant then your best solution would be to get the Inpatriates plan from TIC. She will need to wait 2 months before getting pregnant after the effective date in order to be covered for pregnancy expenses. Once you get your provincial coverage you will be covered for the delivery and the prenatal care. You can send me a private message for more details.
Which province are you going to?

If you go to Ontario, you will be eligible for provincial health care after a 3 month waiting period. Provincial health care will cover all your medical expenses with the pregnancy and childbirth.

During the 3 months you are not covered, you would either have to be covered by a private insurance or pay out of pocket.

You can send a message to haver. He is an insurance broker. I do not know myself but I know there are insurances that cover pregnancy complications up until the 6th or 7th month although for regular appointments you may have to pay out of pocket. On the other hand, there is also an insurance that will cover everything but you would have to sign up for it at least 10 months before the baby is born so she can not already be pregnant when you get it.
