Hello BCBuy, Leon, PMM,

I am referring to you guys as i have seen prompt and useful information in this forum but others are also welcome to reply.

I have been recently been approved for my PR application, will be landing next month to canada. I live in USA and work here on a working visa. I was planning to live in canada and work in USA as i have some responsibilities here.

I wanted to know if i visit USA every day morning for work and come back to canada and stay overnight (mon-fri), will that count my days of stay in canada towards the 2 years accumulation (min requirement to maintain my PR). Please explain me about the days accumulation process. How do they calculate days of stay in canada?

Will i be able to do maintain the status in both countries in the above explain manner?

thanks in advance.

you mean, you want to walk through immigration and customs 2 times everyday 5 days a week.

in any case, for claiming citizenship, if you leave canada and come back the same day, it is not considered as absence. So, I see no reason why it would be considered as absence in case of PR renewal. But, you definitely need to check that because i don't know how it will reflect on your application for PR renewal to have an entry-exit everyday.

i've taken this infor from Question 4 - 2nd bullet :
http://services3.cic.gc.ca/rescalc/redir.do;jsessionid=66927823F07F25FF33AF1B4CF2150B62?redir=faq#PP

there's a residence calculator ont he siteas well :

Right, one day trips are not considered an absence. You will have records of you living in Canada such as filing taxes, renting an apartment or a house, utility bills etc. To ease your travelling across the border every day, you may want to consider a Nexus card, see http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/nexus/menu-eng.html
