hello everyone,i am new to the forum and in definte need of advice! I am a canadian citizen, born and raised Calgarian. My husband is lebanese and our case is being processed in Damscus. Here is our timeline

We started processing your application on December 16, 2007.

Interview scheduled for March 18, 2008.

We were then asked after the interview on May 3 for more documents, and our intention to return to canada!

I then returned to Calgary on May 21 2008

They asked for proof regarding my return to canada and to supply
Rental agreement contract ( which I have given them)
Proof of funds ( I havent proved to them of my funds) cause i didnt have so much at the time
Proof of employment ( I am now working for 2 months)
Notice of Assesment for the last two years ( I provided them with one) and the other one i just recived but is to late to qualify!

The 60 days ended on July 30, and still no word!

I have heard the most cases finish within 2-6 months!

We had not recieved the first letter about supplying these documents for almost two months after our case! So they had to extend our time to give the needed documents!!

I understand all cases are different, but I am just wondering if anyone has a similar case or has suggestions!

If I email them even when they have told me they will not respond to any emails until our case's process has changed, will they put it to the bottom of the case?

thanks in advance!!

I dont think I wrote the post very good, cause no one has replied yet! But really I am just wanting to know because our case was extended by 60 days for us to get all our documentation together! ( We had not recieved the letter asking for more information)

Should I be worried that our case is rejected, or is it normail not to here anything after this point!

They have not reguested for any more documentation in a few months, but no decision has been made yet!!!!!!!

If anyone else has a case in Damascus please put your timeline on here!

Because every case is different, the 3-6 months processing for a spousal application is where there is usually no interview and the application is perfected. In you case, there was an interview, so really no processing was done until that was held. Damascus required more documents before they would make a decision. Your spouse is Lebanese which may increase the time for the security check. You could always order CAIPS to find out if there is a problem with the application.

Hey thanks for your advice, I appreciate anything now. I did get an email back from the government which said this....

"Please be advised that the application is undergoing background verifications. Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict how long these will take. Once background checks are completed, we would be able to proceed with the application."

So now its just knowing how long the background verifications take,,,, and in lebanon OUFF i could be waiting for a while !!!

Hi Nicolet,
I am a canadian born and breed and we we are married. We got married in May and sent in his paperwork early June. So far all we have hear is the application is in Process. I see your husband's interview was on Tuesday, how'd it go? I hope it went good.
We tried the visitors visa thing and basically got laughted at. That was before we got married. We didn't even try after we got married.
Let me know how things turn out for you guys, I we hear anything I'll post it here.

hey mingus! nice to hear from you again, my husbands interview went well i think! I will be so mad if they dont give it to him! We have a house here, in our names! We have been married 1 year and 9 month! He has never been to Calgary! I mean come on they have to give it to him! I wish you luck with your case! Has he had an interview yet? If you havent got the interview yet, you will have to wait until an interview is scheduled! We waited 3 months to get an interview for him for permanent residency! This last interview was just a visitor visa! We will know on the 22nd if it is a yes or no! So 6 months after the interview, and we have no idea where our case is ! They wont answer us, all i know is he is undergoing backround checks, and they cannot know how long it will take ! So honestly i have no idea how much longer this will take!

How did you guys meet? I have another person going through what im going through! nice
do you have lebanese background.
I will let u know what happends as soon as i hear anything!

Good luck and keep your chin up!!!

Hi nicolet,
i'm happy to hear that the interview went good. I am really interested in finding out your results. My husband and i have been hitting our heads against a brick wall trying to figure out how we can see each other. I don't have any holidays left and of course he has not been able to get a visitors visa.
at least you have been able to find out he is going thru background checks, we can't even find out that!
We met on a music sharing site and just got chatting. over several months of chatting on line and may hours actually talking we decided that it would be a good idea for him to come for a visit so that we could actually meet as friends. Of course, he could not get a visitors visa so I went to Jordan to met him and the rest is history. I/we knew we were in love before we met, but the moment I saw him it was all over for me.
No I do not have a lebanese background. I am just a english/french canadian mutt. He is Jordian.
Let me know if you hear anything.
talk soon
