ya libnan is your husband still in canada ? were you able to transfer to sponsorship to inland rather than outland ?

Hello Nagz,

Yes, my husband is here. Thats nice to be together, but he cant work or we cant travel outside Canada (we still didnt have the chance to travel for our honeymoon). I asked CIC to transfer the file here and they told me that since our file is already in process in Damascus, my husband will have to go back there to get his permanent residency or he will have to send his passport by post to Syria (which I dont trust at all ;)

honestly i wouldn't take what the mp's say too seriously, just because they changed number on the CIC website to 13 it doesn't mean it takes 13 months, it takes them at least 4-5 months to see what the actual average is, i mean they changed it 2 times in the last couple of months, how accurate could that possibly be, i doubt it, i just think they are using the mentality that at least if we say 13 and they get it in 11 they will be happy but if we say 11 and they get it in 13 they will complain and start petitions and all those kinds of things, so i wouldn't take that to heart too much, September is just around the corner and that's the peak for them to process since they will be in full force and the situation in syria for will have changed by then.

absolutely ridiculous if you ask me, :-\ :-\

that`s so weird i don`t understand . she told me they have to order something or email them and sometimes they take time to reply. are you in ontario?

nagz i am in Ontario.. do u think it's different? as for the february remark OMG i am in the same boat as u , that would make it 15months !! lets see what ur MP has to say maybe it will be more informative..

omggg i really don't know what to do anymore. as you guys know my husband was living in Africa , when we went to Lebanon on vacation this summer I told him o book a one way ticket because I told him we would probably get the visa by September so now he quit his job and is sitting in Lebanon not doing anything!!! now he's pissed at me because he's saying he shouldn't have listened to me. this process is a freaking joke I don't get why they can't freaking update people on what's going on with their files??

how could we know about the situation in syria? it has always been a safe country ???
i'm sure we won't wait 4-5 months, i agree with u sohrab, the period 13 months is just a way to stop us complaining.
i'm guessing september will be fertile. so let's hope for more PPR. who knows? they might be conscious of their delays and work even faster to make up for the lost time!
don't lose faith guys we're in the last stage of sponsorship, just think that after this hard period, u'll all be reunited for ever...

nagz i know what u mean.. my husband was in dubai and he returned to lebanon for this process assuming all would move on time .. dont despair, this process is taking a major toll on all of us !!! how were u to know there would be 2 delays and like nath said there were no problems in syria before now :(
stay positive , it seems everyone is thinking september will be a productive month ..

Congrats Yaya Marei!!! Finally hope that they are still working! And good to know that ARC can be processed in 1 month. I was worried that ARC would add a lot of time - my husband will have to go through that too. I am very happy for u! ;D

Hang in there Mohammedm123!! I am sure they have slowed down so much because of summer holidays! I am sure they will pick up the pace in September. You will probably have to wait 6-8 weeks :( I think summer is fun for everyone but us since it seems to make our waiting longer!

Yeah that's true...there is no choice but to wait.....
and I hope september will be faster in processing applications

Just to be clear, you submitted your application 2 months after completing the medical. which means if you can get your ppr in August or Sep, the processing time would be still less than a year.

if i were you, i would ask my spouse to redo the medical, but I would not send the receipt yet. that's a win-win scenario:

  • if your ppr arrives and they don't need medical, you will go an get your visa without mentioning anything. it may take 45 days until the medical results get damascus
  • if your ppr arrives late and they ask for medical, you will be ahead of schedule

just my 2 cents.

Hi guys I am in Damascus now, I wen to the embassy in the morning , they said the VISA immigration dep. are closed usually in th. fri, sat , so they said come back sun, so they did not even take my passport because the immigration dep closed for these days

aS I said before they work only 4 days a week, ya it ll be slow if they do that,,,,,,,,,

I have to sleep in hotel until mon, I have no idea what can I do here,,, but sitting in thr room wating as usually :)

that is so weird ::) i thought they work on thursday too...
anyway, if i were you, i'll stay in the hotel and i'll be dreaming bout the visa that i'm gonna get on sunday :D
how about the situation in the streets?is there any danger?is it safe to walk?
