but it is faster to go in person..but with this situation i really dont kow how can we go there...ofcourse if embassy not closed...:(

at the moment the safest thing is mail, the situation in syria is very bad and god forbid we dont want something to happen just because its a few days faster if you go in person,
no the embassy wont close, i mean diplomats have a certain degree of safety, the government wouldnt make them stay if it was dangerous, i mean even now the government is only saying AVOID NON ESSENTIAL TRAVEL, so for now its ok, unless something crazy happens

travel report to syria been change to avoid all travel

yeah i saw it , its not safe for people to be there at the moment :(

2011 is definitely not a good year, rather difficult and shocking at many points !

I really hope Everything works out for the best. Allah y se3id al nass.

well no obviously they are not just going to close and leave haha, they are going to forward the files to an embassy close by for processing, i mean right now syria is the only one that does immigration( sponsorship etc... ) in the whole area of middle east but i am sure they will take care of it if it gets that far that the embassy has to close, but hopefully it wont,

Not True sar-kar sohrab. Abu Dhabi and Cairo also do the same and more than Damascus, and unfortunately when the events took place and Mubarak was ousted, the Cairo embassy closed, and did not conduct any processing, interviews, or PPR (or any other embassy affairs). They also did not forward files to any other facility. If Damascus closes...it means everything is put on hold, and since I've waited 7 months now, and next month is our 1 year anniversary, I am starting to get nervous and am missing my wife dearly!

well i asked the a government agent since i work for immigration myself and i was told files would be transferred, and ALSO they said it is VERY RARE that the embassy world close, since they need to help POSSIBLE CITIZENS in syria and they also represent AUSTRALIANS since Australia doesn't have a embassy in syria and what i said was since damascus is the MAIN embassy in the area and they take care of MAJOR FILES and represent allot of countries they wont just leave files ! if u look at dubai, it takes 20 months and egypt like 12 months, so Damascus wont close, i am pretty sure unless the situation turns out like libya, but i was told the files will be transferred , so lets all just hope things calm down

Hi Sohrab jan, perhaps I should clarify...the embassy remains open with lower level (usually domestic) staffers and interest sections like visa office etc. is closed down. All non-essential services are immediately closed upon a threat. Ps. my cousin is a UK consulate employee in the UAE. I hope things calm down too, at least long enough for this process to end especially for those who have waited so long!

Hello Friends,

I have a couple of questions. The Damascus office recieved my wive's app on march 15 and it is April 24 now, based on the processing times it should take 2 months all together. Is that true? Is it goig to take more than that?

As in them requesting more documents, what documents would they request?

Thanks guys,

^ Who told you the processing time takes 2 months altogether? it takes 1 month in Mississauga before the file is transferred to Syria where it takes 10 months. That makes it approximately 11 months all together, not 2.

Wouldn't that be nice though :D

Oh wow...

Why did it take only 2 months for my sister in law then? I shall ask my brother, because you guys are right.

I remember him contacting the NDP Member of Parliament. Would you guys think that would help?

Regards

One more thing, can't we send our spouse a visa? like a visiting visa?

What the hell is wrong with these people, why are they so stupid and would not change some 100 years old laws.

God dam these people man, they give a student visa in 47 days and spousal PR 10 months?

wowwwww

Are they on alert now for transferring or are they transferring the files now. And if so, will we be advised? I sent in the second medical in and it should arrive tomorrow. How long of a hold will are files have? I have so many questions right now...wow
