My wife received the following email today. I will copy and paste it here in case anyone is interested.
Dear Sir / Madam,
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada. Following the closure of the Immigration Section in Damascus, your application is now being processed in Ankara. In order to complete the processing of your application, you must do the following within 40 days of the date of this letter. Failure to do so could result in the refusal of your application.
- Medical Examination: The applicant is required to undergo medical exam as soon as possible. Please see below for the instructions for arranging Medical Examinations and see attached medical form.
- Payment of Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF): Payment has to be done only by your sponsor. Please contact your sponsor and request him / her to pay the RPRF as soon as possible. The fee may be paid at a financial institution in Canada or may be paid through the internet. Your sponsor can visit this website to obtain information regarding online payment: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ols/ols.do?lang=en
Once your sponsor has paid the RPRF fee in Canada, the receipt must be mailed to:

If the receipt is not mailed to CPC-Mississauga, our office cannot confirm the payment to continue processing your application.
Please note that if you do not comply with this request within 40 days of the date of this letter, your application for permanent residence in Canada will be assessed on the basis of the information already before the officer. Failure to provide the requested documents could result in the refusal of your application.
Please note: It is your responsibility to ensure that the information you provide our office is accurate and up-to-date. Please inform us immediately if there are any changes to the information or documents you have submitted. If there is a change in your legal status or that of any family member (marriage, birth, death, divorce, etc.) you must notify us before visas are printed.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO PROCEDURES FOR SUBMITTING DOCUMENTS AND PASSPORTS:
All correspondence/documents must be sent directly to the Canadian Embassy in Ankara at the address indicated above. DO NOT send or submit any documents to our offices in Tehran. Any correspondence you send to these offices will be returned to you.
Your file is being processed in Ankara. No representations, faxes, telephone calls or correspondence can or will be answered by Tehran; all inquires must be sent directly to the visa office in Ankara.
Please quote your file number, as well as your telephone & fax numbers on all correspondence and on every document you send to us.

Our application to sponsor was received on April 18, 2011.
They started processing our application on May 17, 2011.
Permanent Residence Application Status
We received the application for permanent residence on June 4, 2011.
About a week ago I noticed they changed something under the Permanent Residence Application Status. I think the change was Application Received but I'm not sure.
